Together we’re shaping/creating a cleaner, greener future for our 11 million customers who we put at the heart of everything we do. **The Opportunity** The SHE Specialist will support, advise and deliver and where required, manage SHES performance and quality predominantly within Customer Operations and Energy Operations environments. You'll be responsible for the provision of assistance and support tostaff and contractors within a geographical area from a SHES perspective. Reporting Directly to the Head of Safety and Assurance for the North West Network, you will be working collaboratively with the Compliance, Contract Management Assurance and Risk and Assurance teams as well as with Contract Management Teams. You will bea strong, visible safety leader and will be responsible for giving direct support to the whole of Cadent Operations. You will need a strong understanding of relevant SHES/HSEQ legislation, with good communication, IT and writing skills and have experiencein using Microsoft Office products with strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel. This role is suitable for an individual experienced in SHES/HSEQ, ideally within the utility or pipelines industry. You will bring with you a continual focus and drive to improve performance and have a keen eye for attention to detail. **Responsibilities & Accountabilities**: - To support, advise and where required manage SHES performance and quality within theNetwork - To be responsible for the provision of assistance and support to staff and contractors involved in O&M, Emergency, Repair or Connections activities within a geographical area from a SHES perspective - Assuring adherence to the safety framework and culture across all activities undertaken in the network - Provision of advice and support to ensure that works carried out by the Network comply with relevant legislation and statutory requirements (e.g. CDM, RIDDOR, COSHH) and with CadentSHES Policies, Standards and Procedures; including Cadent’s Safety and EnvironmentalManagementSystems - Engendering and promoting a safety conscious culture and environment, to ensure the safety of those impacted by our activities - Monitor, track and coordinate the monthly SHES depot audits, ensuring environmental and waste management licences are in place and all standards (Safety, Health, Environment and Security) are met for depot checks and ISO14001 accreditations - The provision of support and guidance for incident investigations, including gas incidents and internal incidents within the network - The provision of support for internal incident investigation reports and those for submission to enforcing authorities, ensuring data recorded is accurate, appropriate and complete to support management and regulatory reporting (e.g. RTC, MVI, Carbon Monoxide) - Maintaining an up to date knowledge of appropriate legislation, policies and procedures, technical standards and codes of practice, to ensure the provision of a safe and cost-effective service - The provision of safety advice to the network throughout any relevant deviation process - Representing the Network during Procurement events to ensure the relevant safety input to the contract scope and bidder evaluations - Co-ordinate with Property and local representatives for site security issues - Review Network Scorecard Process Safety and SHES KPI’s monitor performance against set targets and support Network Managers in resolving issues - Drive Health and Wellbeing programmes in the network, (e.g. HAVS (Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome), Mental Health, Hearing) - Represent the Network during Safety Policy, Standard, Procedure reviews. **What You’ll Bring** **Qualifications** - NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) - HNC or equivalent **Practical Experience** - Knowledge and understanding of relevant SHES legislation, associated codes of practice and other guidance - Knowledge and understanding of relevant Cadent SHES policies, procedures, and other supporting documentation - Strong understanding of risk management principles and tools - Strong understanding of HSE regulations relevant to role - Experience in writing in-depth, high quality safety investigations - Experience in analysis, reporting and trending - Strong monitoring and evaluation skills - Be committed to safety with a focus on bringing incident numbers to 0 **What’s In It For You**
