**The Opportunity**

The safety and assurance function support responsibility for the Assurance, Risk, Health & Safety and Compliance activities across Cadent North West Operations. They provide advice, support and specialist knowledge for all associated related activities within the North West Network providing a framework for wider compliance and continual improvement.

**The Important Bit**

The Compliance Offcer:

- Helps others to grow and succeed by actively sharing knowledge and experience

- Ensure that all works are undertaken in accordance with safety, commercial, technical and legislative policies and procedures
- Identify and implement improvements in process delivery
- Prioritise workload and support the team to produce results in a timely manner to meet business needs
- Liaison with key internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrate an inclusive work ethic.

**The Accountabilities**
- To deliver quality assurance inspections to ensure that any work on Cadent’s assets are being correctly managed and delivered
- To provide onsite monitoring of Engineering, Technical and Safety matters across the Network and including contract partners for all work types
- Ensuring that all parties working on Cadent assets are operating within the policy boundaries in terms of technical and safety requirements (e.g. SW1, T/PR/ML4, SHE/80)
- Provide support to wider team in the management of procedures for safely managing all additions, changes, modifications and repair to our asset
- Contributing to the process of sharing initiatives and innovation across Cadent and its partners to optimise performance across all Cadent operations
- Delivering ad-hoc investigations in response to significant business events or business change Initiatives
- Producing compliance inspection reports which effectively communicate the agreed scope of work, key findings and recommended actions
- Supporting action plans with relevant stakeholders to eliminate non-conformities and drive a more effective and efficient operational approach
- Promoting shared learning across the organisation, contributing to regular planning and risk review meetings with stakeholders to share themes from inspections completed and understanding evolving risks and challenges to inform future assurance coverage.

**Qualifications**
- SHEA Gas Safety Passport
- Full Driving Licence
- Safety qualification (such as NEBOSH, IOSH Managing safely)
- HNC / GNO2 / Gas Safe or equivalent engineering qualification
- Has or working toward SCO 1, 2, 4 & 5
- NRSWA Operative and/or Supervisor
- Assessor Qualification (D32/33, A1 or TAQA)
- Educated or suitably experienced in relevant engineering-based discipline (ideally a member of a professional body) with a breadth and depth of proven experience in engineering projects

**Practical Experience**
- Knowledge of local authority operations and procedures including the Planning Act 1990 (Listed and Conservations areas) and building regulations 2012
- Good understanding of Health and Safety legislation
- Experience of driving commercial value and enhanced safety performance
- Knowledge of Cadent policies and procedures with detailed understanding of:

- T/PM/MSL/1
- T/PR/ML & SL suite of Documents
- GD/PR/EM suite of Documents
- T/PR/TMP suite of Documents
- SCO 1, 2, 4 & 5
- Experience in an Operational (Emergency or Repair) environment including:

- Conducting on site QA checks/audits
- Liaising with customers and external stakeholders
- Gas Escape Management
- Mains and Service Laying
- Safe Control of Operations (SCO)
- Supplier Contract Control Framework (SCCF)
- Contract Management
- Demonstrable track record of developing successful, long lasting, relationships across the Business
