Camhs In-reach Support Worker

The post holder will be part of the Powys CAMHS School In-Reach Team to
work within the team and partner agencies to support the Whole School
Approach. Participate in a team structure that has responsibility for providing early, identification and brief intervention to promote positive emotional wellbeing and resilience, which will be delegated activities from the Powys CAMHS In-Reach Team Lead or Practitioners.
The role will primarily support the Powys CAMHS School In-Reach Practitioners to engage with school staff to support in the provision of education relating to emotional and mental health and well-being, promoting the emotional wellbeing and resilience. The promotion would be through the delivery of agreed programmes of group and individual interventions, with agreement of the child/young person, parents/carers and as an outcome of Powys CAMHS In-Reach Schools consultation. These programmes may be in school or other community setting.
The Powys CAMHS School In-Reach Support Worker would also have responsibility for training staff in emotional wellbeing issues to increase knowledge and competence and may engage in the delivery of
interventions for children and young people.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
- Support the Powys CAMHS School In-Reach Team in the implementation of support for schools, to support children and young people with low level mental health and emotional problems such as anxiety and low mood.
- Under the supervision and direction of the Powys CAMHS School In-Reach Team Lead or Practitioners deliver developmentally appropriate, and evidence based early intervention and low threshold group interventions and activities within a variety of settings for children. This would be with direction of the Powys CAMHS School In-Reach Team Lead and Practitioners after developing a plan following consultation with a school.
- Deliver approved training to relevant staff across the Powys Teaching Health Board (PTHB) area including those within Primary Care and education to build skills and knowledge.
- Participate in a multi-disciplinary environment and work in a collaborative manner with colleagues and partner agencies.
- Ensure that information available to children and young people and
professionals that support them is accessible and up to date and approved by the Powys CAMHS School In-Reach Service for use.
Powys CAMHS School In-Reach Service is an early intervention Service withing CAMHS Services, aligning to the Mental Health Division Services and Priorities.
- Support the Powys CAMHS School In-Reach Team in the implementation of support for schools, to support children and young people with low level mental health and emotional problems such as anxiety and low mood.

- Engage in regular supervision with the Powys CAMHS School In-Reach Team Lead/ Psychologist to support safe delivery of care to children and young people.
- Develop positive relationships with, and work with patients and families who may be difficult to engage and demonstrate resistance.
- Develop positive working relationships with staff from multiple agencies, including those working within schools, local authorities, PTHB and Third sector.
- Aware of relevant levels of expertise of different disciplines within the service/schools, in order that the appropriate help is provided for children.
- Possess excellent and effective interpersonal and communication skills both verbally and in written documentation with young people, family members, colleagues, and members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Maintain written records to a high standard in accordance with PTHB policies.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times, in accordance with PTHB policies.
- Work within PTHB and developmental policies and procedures.
- Required to use IT systems and paper records to record patient’s information and relevant programmes of interventions.
- Required to use IT systems to complete incident forms.
- Undertake any internal or external training
