The post holder will work within a Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service, providing CAMHS assessment and therapeutic services to children, adolescents and their families who have been referred from, with severe, complex and enduring psychological, emotional and mental health difficulties. Have specialist skills/training and experience in a variety of evidence-based
therapeutic techniques and frameworks. The post holder will provide planned interventions based on NICE guidelines and other evidence-based interventions, working independently but with appropriate supervision and maintaining the quality standards of CAMHS and professional guidelines.
Be expected to provide a professional assessment and specialist therapeutic service depending on their particular area of skill and expertise.
Regularly review and evaluate treatment plans and programmes with patients, carers, the Care Coordinator, clinical team and the CAMHS Manager.
Contribute to the development of specialist interventions and treatment
packages, and manage a complex clinical caseload.
Carry out these functions within policy/plans as determined by the Agenda for Change Band and in a manner that conforms to the practitioner’s professional body and code of ethics.
Work collaboratively with other Team members to provide a multi-modal package of care.
Be part of the first point of access service.
Undertake CAMHS assessments under the Mental Health Measure when / if required due to changing demands of the service.
Participate constructively, critically and supportively to Team supervision,
including regular clinical and peer supervision.
Be mindful of performance and financial targets for specialist NHS CAMHS in Wales.

- The post holder will maintain a high degree of professionalism with clients, other agencies and the service at all times.
- The post holder will ensure personal practice complies with professional guidelines and protocols for good practice
- S/he will communicate effectively and have skills to develop therapeutic relationships with children, young people, parents and carers with severe and complex mental health needs.
- S/he will provide specialist therapeutic interventions of a complex and intensive nature, ranging from brief/partnership intervention to complex treatment plans
- The post holder will demonstrate the ability to liaise effectively with the MDT and other persons involved in the treatment/care plan over any serious changes in the child/young person’s mental health to discuss and agree the appropriate course of action,
- The post holder will be instrumental in the maintenance and development of professional working relationships with the primary referrers to the service in order to ensure that young people have ease of access
- The post holder must demonstrate excellent and effective communication skills, applicable primarily when working with young people and their families, but also demonstrable when engaged with other professionals.
- The post holder will appropriately communicate very sensitive condition related information to patients, relatives and other professionals involved with young people.
- The post holder will demonstrate empathy and reassurance and be clear and concise in delivery.
- S/he will promote effective working relationships within the multidisciplinary team by working collaboratively and jointly with other team members and professionals from other agencies.
- Analytical and Judgement Skills
