Shift Team Leader

**Job Summary**:
Pay of £12 per hour working a pattern that averages at 42 hours per week with additional pay for on call and covering shifts at last minute (within 48hours notice).
The Shift Team Leader is responsible for:
- Leading and managing shifts
- The overall management of the working staff team during those shifts
- Undertaking a keyworker role for allocated residents which involves coordinating and planning of their care needs, assessment, implementation, and evaluation of programs of care, and is able to participate in the teaching of care and none care staff.
- On Call Rota, completion of allocated dates making themselves available for phone calls and last-minute cover when all other options have been exhausted.
- Flexible shift working of Day/Night Duty
- The post holder is designated to take charge regularly of a unit in the absence of the person with continuing responsibility. There will be a requirement to take a lead role.
**PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Shift Leadership and Management**
1. Ensure the effective and safe delivery of care to all residents
2. All concerns regarding the wellbeing and safety of residents and staff to be raised to management immediately
3. Effective and safe management and leadership of the staff team
4. Ensure the appropriate implementation of the unit’s policies and procedures, to maintain a high standard of care.
5. Medication safe administration and storage, keeping in line with company policies and procedures
6. Full documentation and reporting of all Accidents/ Incidents and Near Misses using Radar system, ensuring that these are appropriately and effectively managed. Management to be informed of all incidents, and liaison with families and external professionals as appropriate.
7. Effective Co-ordination of resident care ensuring effective communication within the unit, wider staff team and external agencies.
8. Ensure effective oversight of the diary, completion of required planning and attendance at appointments
9. Ensure an environment supportive to residents undertaking positive therapeutic activities daily and support with the planning and co-ordination at weekends and in the absence of the Activities Co-Ordinator.
10. In the event of an Admission of a resident (either temporary or permanent) ensure thorough planning and coordination, following the Admissions Policy, complete the checklist including: Booking in Medications, Completing Physical Observations, Weight, Body Map, etc. _(refer to Policy)_.
11. In the event of a Discharge (or Hospital Admission) ensure thorough communication and coordination, sharing of information with other agencies and where appropriate ensure adequate medication supplies are sent with the individual.
**Team Leadership Responsibilities**
1. Ordinarily an expectation of working 12 hour shifts to cover 24hour care of residents
2. Flexible working of Day/ Night Shift Duties
3. On Call duties as per allocated on-call rota (to cover over a 7 day week)
- a requirement to offer telephone support for care delivery and to cover at last minute if all other options have been explored.
4. Finding cover for sickness and absence and completion of Sickness absence documentation and return to work meetings
5. Always behave professionally and proactively, be a positive role model to all staff when on duty
6. Clock in / off duty using Bodet system and sign agency Time sheets
7. Undertake all delegated duties as allocated by Home Manager or Deputy Manager
8. Support the effective operations of the home in the absence of management staff.
9. Ensure safe and effective handover of information and medication keys. Effective allocation of duties e.g. resident duties, phone calls There must be a trained responsible person to hand over to, in the event that there isn’t then the Senior support worker is responsible in staying on site until an appropriate person who can take responsibility is available.
10. Uphold the reputation of the company by maintaining professional communication with all external contacts to the home.

LFT testing continues to be practice in our home. Use of PPE for maintaining Care Home infection control standards
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Mansfield, NG18 2AT: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
**Experience**:
- providing care: 2 years (required)
- supervisory: 1 year (required)
Licence/Certification:
- Driving Licence (preferred)
- NVQ Level 2 Health & Social Care (required)
