This is a fantastic work-life balance for a catering professional.** Here at Serco, we are recruiting for a Chef to join our team at Yarls Wood Immigration Removal Centre. This is a key position where you will act as a role model to colleagues, managers, visitors and stakeholders by assisting the Catering Manager in the delivery of catering services to the establishment whilst ensuring Health and Safety and Food Hygiene Regulationsare strictly observed and controlled. You will prepare and cook varied and healthy menus for detainees to include special diets, special day and religious events and perform random Quality Checks on serveries. As Chef you will provide hospitality requirements when ordered by the company and ensure the security and food safety of all foodstuffs are maintained during delivery, storage and distribution. You will complete incident reports, intelligence reports, Useof Force paperwork and accident reports. **What do you need to do in the role?** This role requires good oral and written communication skills and also large-scale catering experience. You’ll need experience of working in a high-pressured catering operation and within tight deadlines. You will also have a basic understanding of risk and conflict management and good problem-solving skills along with the following: City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 or equivalent NVQ or similar in Food preparation and Production Food Safety level 2 or 3 Awareness of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) Awareness of allergen control within catering **What else do I need to know?** sercoap **Why Serco?** **_Meaningful and vital work_**: Gatwick IRC is focused on decency and respect in all aspects of care for residents, which is delivered at a critical time in their lives.
