**Recovery Worker - Inpatient Detoxification Unit**

**Based at**:Salus Withnell Hall - Chorley - Lancashire

**Hours**:24 and 37.5 hours over 7 days working a 24/7 shift pattern

**Salary**:£21,507.75 per annum inclusive of shift and bank holiday working

**Responsible to**:Residential Services Manager and / or Lead Nurse

**Purpose of the role**:
Provide high standard and quality of health care and therapeutic support to patients in accordance with Adferiad’s standards and clinical procedures in addition to Care Quality Commission (CQC) Regulatory Guidance.

You will work as part of a team under the supervision of qualified nurses and doctors.

**Dimensions of the role**:
**Role accountability**

The role holder is responsible for providing a supportive role in the provision of medical treatment, appropriate therapeutic interventions, and for contributing to the overall efficient and effective running of a shift.

**Functional accountability**

The role holder will have direct access to support and guidance from the Residential Services Manager, Lead Nurse, and qualified Nurses at Salus Withnell Hall to ensure that the unit operates within internal and external policy and procedure(s) and other regulatory frameworks. An Independent Nurse Prescriber gives overall clinical advice and guidance to the Salus Withnell Hall as required.

**Annual turnover and bed occupancy**

Salus Withnell Hall a medically managed inpatient detoxification facility operated by Adferiad Recovery, a registered not-for-profit charity. Adferiad is one of the leading providers of residential treatment in the UK, successfully treating some 1,000 patients per year across 3 facilities and has a strong history spanning over 40 years of supporting the most vulnerable people in society. Salus Withnell Hall is a managed inpatient detoxification unit, with 25 beds and is one of the prime providers for complex needs residential addiction treatment in North Wales and out of area.

**Key areas of focus and expected outcomes of the role**:
**Delivery of a clinical & therapeutic service**

Deliver a range of therapeutic interventions and psychological social interventions to patients including the use of CBT in both a group and a one-to-one settings.

Assist the Substance Misuse Nurse in delivering a high standard of holistic patient care in all clinical settings, ensuring that the patient’s dignity and equality is always maintained in line with organisational requirements.

**Provision of health care support to patients**

Carry out tasks as delegated by the trained nurse and within the limits of training and knowledge.

Implement the following clinical procedures in line with clinicians such as (this list is not exhaustive)
- Pulse Monitoring
- Blood Pressure monitoring
- Urine testing
- Blood glucose testing Temperature

Report any changes in the condition and/or circumstances of patients to the nursing team.

Participate in maintaining patients nursing records to ensure information is accurate and up to date.

Support individuals (prior to, during and following clinical procedures or investigations).

Chaperone patients when required and assist with medical procedures. This will include being vigilant in relation to strict infection control procedures.

Contribute and assist in the moving and handling of individuals ensuring that organisational guidelines and policies are met.

Ensure that patients and carers / relatives are involved in the care procedures, ensuring that they understand and can give consent.

Participate in ensuring that patient needs are met by working collaboratively with other professionals and agencies, especially in relation to ongoing care needs.

Ensure that effective communication is established and maintained with patients and carers / relatives.

Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations Communicate basic information to patients and their carers maintaining confidentiality, dignity and respect.

**Contribute to the effective running of Salus Withnell Hall**

Practice effective communication / reception skills / answering telephones and completing basic clerical tasks to maintain a professional service.

Undertake housekeeping duties to maintain standards of health and hygiene within the service This includes the management of patient meals and drinks.

Participate in the effective and efficient use of physical and financial resources. This includes the correct rotation of stock to maximise supplies.

Take a proactive role in the management of risk, i.e. risk assessments, reporting incidents near misses and hazards.

Assuming all reasonable precautions for a safe and secure environment for self and others in accordance with Health & Safety legislation, reporting any areas of concern to the line manager.

Participate in audits as appropriate.
