This company is looking for a Strategic Support Officer to be part of their busy democratic services team and ensure the smooth operation of council meetings. They will provide support for officers and members, including the publication of reports and agendas,taking minutes and hosting virtual meetings to increase public engagement.

The role will be largely supporting democratic services at the district councils and will support West Oxfordshire District Council as required.

Key Responsibilities are as follows:

- Using appropriate technology collating and publishing reports and agendas
- Taking of minutes
- Recording decisions at meetings of the Council’s committee, Council and Cabinet meetings;
- Monitor decisions and actions taken by Cabinet and Council, chasing progress and reporting against such actions and decisions
- Providing administrative support to members;
- Ensuring members register of interests are up to date and published on the website;
- Acting as a point of contact for member queries;
- Dealing with members expenses;
- Contributing to improvements in our service delivery model and increasing public involvement in local decision making;
- The preparation of pre-meeting documentation and presentations;
- Supporting councillors to fulfil their roles, specifically cabinet members by conducting and presenting research to facilitate policy development and effective decision making
- Assisting with the delivery of appropriate training to Members, in particular induction training for newly elected members

Qualifications as follows:

- GCSE's including Maths and English
- 5 years experience of working in local government or equivalent
- Good level of IT skills
