**Job Purpose**
The Enterprise Adviser will support the continuing development of Student Enterprise at the University of Glasgow by fostering collaborative student community building opportunities and developing engaging enterprise initiatives in line with an overarching strategy. Student Enterprise forms a key area of development within the wider University strategy. This includes clear and ambitious plans to further develop student engagement pathways and provision of services for:
- All students at the University of Glasgow
- Student enterprise society groups
- University wide stakeholder engagement
This is a critical role in developing our offering at the University with a focused provision and this includes:
- Working with staff across the School/University to ensure that student enterprise is an integral part of the student offering.
- Growing our entrepreneurial culture by nurturing budding entrepreneurs and supporting the promotion of entrepreneurship at the University of Glasgow
- Playing a critical role in articulating and promoting the enterprise offering
- Supporting the development of a range of current student community initiatives at a local level, adapted to the needs of changing student demographics.
- Monitoring and maintaining records and reports to meet internal and external requirements.
- Brokering/facilitating development of student business ideas
- Working with students, departments across the University, organisations and businesses to identify and develop opportunities for engagement activity.
**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
**1. Community Building**
Support continued development of an enterprise network across the University linking academic, professional and external stakeholders as appropriate. Work with key stakeholders to build and nurture student communities by fostering collaboration to support student growth, engagement, development and sustainability.
- Support the management of the day-to-day activities in the incubator, with a focus on group cohesion and diverse community building
- Create content and deliver workshops for supported businesses
- Work with student societies and internal departments to increase engagement
**2. Promoting Student Enterprise**
In conjunction with colleagues, support the promotion and development of a range of internal and external enterprise opportunities for students and interact with key stakeholders. Support aspiring students and entrepreneurs to view business creation as a viable career pathway.
- Run information sessions on the support Student Enterprise offers
- Run the Student Enterprise Welcome Week booth
- Work with key external partners to highlight Student Enterprise’s track record.
**3. Business Support**
Pro-actively contribute to the smooth running of the department including in depth understanding of business start-up processes and current visa processes in order to monitor and maintain records for internal and external reporting. Provide support to early stage business ideas with expertise as necessary and support the growing enterprise community in the Enterprise Space in the Advanced Research Centre.
- Meet with students and alumni who have business ideas and support their personal and professional development
- Monitor and track businesses which have received support and existed 5+ years
- Assist in the drafting of internal and external reports concerning the level of support and its impact
- Offer 1-2-1 meetings with businesses currently receiving support in the incubator

**Communication and Marketing**
Working with relevant colleagues, contribute to the development and implementation of a comprehensive enterprise communications and promotion strategy to key internal and external stakeholders. Develop engaging and innovative content for internal and external audiences.
- Draft material for social media campaigns which can be organised by relevant colleagues
- Interview and collate information from supported businesses.
- Find opportunity to cross promote Student Enterprise with internal and external partners.

**Coordination of Student Focused Activities**
Support the development and co-ordination of a programme of events for students and local business, working in line with a developed and established process. Support the design and delivery of new sector leading innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives e.g. Freelancers Academy, widening participation schemes and innovation challenges. Support the delivery of enterprise creation workshops including a suite of online resources.
- Record student and graduate engagement using the Startium platform
- Assist in initiating Freelancers Academy
- Develop content for Student Enterprise Moodle
- Take a leading role in the organisation and running of the annual Start-up Factory Weekend Hack-a-thon
