Lead Academic Consultant

**Summary**

Thesis Editor Ltd seeks a Lead Academic Consultant (LAC) to support all aspects of customer service, academic consulting, and editorial project management for our UK office. Reporting to and working closely with the CEO and DOO, the LAC will play a key role in the customer service and administration of our company’s operations.

We primarily serve postgraduate students who are developing, writing, and finalising their theses or dissertations, and also provide support for post-doctoral projects, such as journal articles, professional papers, and thesis-to-book conversions. Our work entails not only customised professional services in technical editing, but also consultative and pedagogical engagement calibrated to the specific needs, requirements, and capacities of a given client and their unique project.

**Description**

Thesis Editor Ltd is seeking a motivated, highly professional doctorate with outstanding advisorial, analytical, administrative, and problem-solving abilities to join our team as Lead Academic Consultant. Reporting to the CEO and DOO, the Lead Academic Consultant will be responsible for a range of customer service and administrative activities.

**Responsibilities**
- Customer Service Responsibilities_
- Serve as primary point of contact for all client enquiries, fielding questions on company policies and procedures and developing customised service plans for incoming clients.
- Cultivate relationships of trust with clients to help them meet program requirements and deadlines while maintaining high standards of academic integrity and quality.
- Offer advice on the trajectory and expectations of graduate level writing in British Universities.
- Consult on the development of doctoral and other academic projects and advise clients on the conventions of academic research and writing.
- Demonstrate company proficiency and uphold excellence in all aspects of editing, formatting, consultation and data analysis.
- Administrative Responsibilities_
- Execute a complex project management workflow, inclusive of:

- Review and assessment of incoming projects;
- Preparation of proposed service orders;
- Calculation of pricing and negotiation of order parameters and expectations;
- Processing, assignment, and oversight of client projects;
- Facilitation of client-editor communication;
- Maintenance of client records and financial history;
- Final project review for quality control;
- Management and resolution of order conflicts.

**Qualifications**
- Required_
- Full UK work authorisation.
- PhD or equivalent advanced academic degree from a research university in the UK. (Applicants holding a degree from a European or Commonwealth university may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Applicants holding a degree from an online program will not be considered.)
- 3+ years’ professional experience in British higher education, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2-3 years’ relevant experience in student teaching or advising, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2-3 years’ relevant experience in academic research, writing, and editing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1-2 years’ relevant experience in administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Interdisciplinary flexibility with a demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate across the humanities, social sciences, STEM, and professional fields.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with an excellent phone rapport.
- Sensitivity and responsivity to client diversity and cross-cultural needs.
- Ability to work effectively with a team in training, problem-solving, and decision-making.
- Impeccable professionalism, tact, and patience.
- Ability to multitask and prioritise competing demands to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrable fluency in at least two (2) academic and reference styles (e.g. Harvard, APA, Vancouver, MLA, Chicago).
- Demonstrable proficiency in advanced MS Word features and formatting tools, especially Styles.
- Proven capacity to learn and work with various administrative technologie
