International Recruitment Lead will be responsible for managing the regional work for the AHP funded international recruitment programme.

Fixed Term Contract for 0.8 WTE

As the International Recruitment Lead for AHPs, the post holder will:

- Have a working knowledge of international recruitment processes.
- Work with regional and ICS AHP and workforce leads to develop system
- based approaches to international recruitment to establish sustainable joint processes for future workforce supply.
- Work closely with key stakeholders to obtain best practice approaches in international
- Recruitment that can be shared and adopted regionally and nationally.
- Development to transition into UK healthcare and progress careers.
- Champion the wellbeing of international recruits and their mentors sharing good practice and establishing shared processes to ensure parity across the region.
- Lead on the recognition of prior experience for international recruits and support trusts to align their offers, working towards ICS then regional agreement.
- Actively promote best practice in person centred ethical recruitment to provide national case studies for NHS Employers etc.
- Possess a track record of managing and resolving complex workforce issues in large organisations.
- Have the ability to work with senior trust/ICS AHP and HR leads and educators to deliver international recruitment programmes.
- Possess experience of working with senior officials across organisations to coordinate delivery of policy and/or regulatory programmes.
- Report on improvement initiatives across NHS England and NHS Improvement, on occasion to director level.

The Allied Health Professions (AHPs) are made up of fourteen professions, representing together the third largest clinical workforce in the NHS.

The NHS Long Term Plan and COVID recovery planning have highlighted the vital importance of these fourteen professions in all settings and specialties. A persistent key risk highlighted in people plans is the critical workforce shortages for AHPs. From mental health to community services, UEC and diagnostics to children’s services. International recruitment is one solution to addressing AHP workforce demand.

NHS England and NHS Improvement’s workforce team have a wide-ranging brief to ensure that entirety of the nursing, midwifery and AHP workforce agenda is supported through the influencing of related policy and delivery of workforce improvement programmes.

**Primary areas of focus are**:

- Increasing supply through undergraduate degree courses, as the largest and most effective supply route, and reducing attrition from training
- Providing clear pathways into the profession and further developing additional entry routes through apprenticeships, as an example
- Improving retention of our existing nursing workforce
- Supporting and encouraging return to practice
- Ensuring flexible working arrangements
- Providing continuing support to our people to develop their careers and their skills to respond to the changing needs of patients and citizens
- Continuing to focus on safe and effective staffing, building on existing policy and support to boards and staff in making effective decisions.
