This is an opportunity to join the Transport and Rural team which is a relatively new team, post sits in the Out of Hours, Transport and Rural Unit within the Primary Care Strategy and Capability Division of the Primary Care Directorate. The Division deals with a range of policies, including development of a new Primary Care Strategy, and infrastructure support on data, digital and finance as well as the Unit’s functions
Within this post you will be helping to develop the team and implement policy in a busy, fast paced area which receives significant ministerial, parliamentary and media interest. The focus of rural policy is delivery of the Manifesto Commitment to create a national centre for rural and remote primary care and social care, with scoping work already underway. The transport element is focussed on both remote and rural patient access. A key element is supporting delivery of a recently developed workplan to deliver recommendations in the Mobility and Access Committee Report of 2019 which will be overseen by a newly established Strategic Advisory Group on Transport and Health.
This is an exciting time to be joining the team as we develop our understanding and scope of the remit. This role requires engagement across the Health Directorates and with Transport Scotland as well as other key stakeholders within and out with the NHS.

**Responsibilities**:
- Work with the Team to establish strong and positive relations with relevant stakeholders across the NHS and external to the NHS on both Transport and Rural elements to ensure open and effective communication
- As part of the team positively contribute to support the future development of Remote and Rural Primary Health and Social Care and Transport and Health.
- Support the team to provide the secretariat to Strategic Advisory Group for Transport and Health
- Support the team to deliver the manifesto commitment to create a National Centre for Remote and Rural Primary Health and Social Care.
- Prepare draft responses to Ministerial correspondence for review,
- Prepare draft notes of meetings, policy papers and briefing across the team’s policy areas
- Review and respond to basic queries and for more complex queries, draft a suggested response for review.

**Location**We are location neutral. However, the team is based in St. Andrew’s House, Edinburgh, EH1 3DG. We are currently moving towards a hybrid working model and as part of that, within government guidelines there will be a need to attend meetings periodically within the central belt.
