Health & Safety Officer

We are currently seeking a Health and Safety Officer to be the focal point and be responsible for the development, administration and maintenance of an effective airport wide Safety Management System. As a Health and Safety Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being to our employees, passengers, contractors and visitors.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Safety Management System (SMS)** Developing, implementing and maintaining the airports safety management system, this includes identifying hazards, assessing risks, and establishing procedures to mitigate potential safety issues. Managing the airport risk registers.
- **Safety Performance monitoring** and reporting management SRS using Oshens reporting system.
- **Safety Inspections and Audits **conducting regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential safety hazards and ensure that all airport facilities, equipment, and procedures meet safety standards.
- **Accident Investigation **overseeing accident and investigations ensuring that the appropriate corrective actions are taken to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
- **Occupational Health & Safety **ensuring the wellbeing of employees, contractors and visitors and anyone else who may interact with the workplace.
- **Training and Education **to provide safety training and education programmes to airport staff and stakeholders to raise safety awareness to ensure everyone understands their roles and responsibilities in maintaining a safe environment.
- **Safety Data Analysis **analyse safety related data to identify trends, potential risks and opportunities for improvement completing safety performance indicators for RCA reporting on a monthly basis.
- **Safety Reporting** preparing safety reports for airport management, regulatory agents and other stakeholders as required.
- **Continuous improvement **continually seeking ways to enhance safety and compliance measures, implementing best practices and staying up to date with industry developments.
- **Implementing Safety committees **and lead on safety related committees as an integral part of the SMS.
- **Lead on Bournemouth Safety Executive **Quarterly meeting understanding and acting on associated risks within the operation.
- **Maintenance of Safety Management Documentation**
**The Person**:
The Person should ideally have had:
Relevant Experience in Airport Operations and Safety Management
**Qualifications**:
A minimum of three years professional experience of airport operations
- IOSH or NEBOSH Qualified auditor or working towards
SMS qualified or working towards
- Graduate or post graduate qualification in airfield management (desirable)
Membership of recognised safety related professional institute (desirable)
