**About the Job**

Are you ready to gain hands-on experience and make an impact in a dynamic, purpose-driven organisation? Join us as a Communications intern at Better Cotton and help our team amplify its reach and engagement. In this role, you will play an active role in shaping our digital communications, learning about our media and membership work, enhancing our internal communications and supporting various administrative needs to ensure smooth team operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for any intern aspiring for a career in the sustainability sector to build their skills and experience in communications as well as in working in a fast-paced global multicultural not-for-profit.

**Responsibilities**

**Digital Communications and media monitoring**
- Support the roll out of our refreshed digital strategy
- Generate creative, impactful content ideas for our digital platforms
- Manage our content archive, particularly the Farmer Stories series to ensure the content is kept up-to-date and well organised
- Monitor and engage with our audience across our social accounts (Instagram, Linkedin, X)
- Track and report on Better Cotton’s media presence and sentiment
- Support timely, relevant responses to media enquiries

**Stakeholders’ management (internal and members)**
- Help deliver the monthly All Staff Meeting on Teams and assist with surrounding communications (e.g. PowerPoint decks, drafting messaging, speaker support etc)
- Review submissions for the editorial and communications calendars to help capture key organisational priorities
- Contribute to the monthly and quarterly members newsletters
- Assist with content planning delivery for the Better Cotton Conference Agenda
- Regularly update and upload content to our internal communication channels (Teams, SharePoint, Outlook)

**General Support for the Communications Team**:

- Support on ad-hoc projects for the team
- Write, proofread and edit engaging copy for internal and external communications, including blogs, social media posts, newsletters and more
- Ensure all copy and content created adheres to our brand guidelines, and champion best use of brand when working with colleagues in other teams
- Answer and triage queries and requests for the Communications team
- Support the team with procurement processes and handle administrative tasks related to invoices and contracts

**Profile**
- University degree, or equivalent higher education qualification, in a relevant field.
- Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail in grammar and style for proofreading
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills
- Compile media coverage and build journalist database
- Familiar with basic digital communications and platforms - Social media (LinkedIn, Instagram), Teams, Sharepoint, Wordpress
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail

**Desirable**
- Experience with basic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite) for creating visual content
- Understanding of Mailchimp for newsletter creation
- Familiarity with internal communications practices or event planning

**Working arrangements**

The position is full-time (40 hours per week) on a 6-month fixed term contract and will be based in London. Better Cotton offers flexible working, with core hours being 10 am - 4 pm.
