**Brief Description**

asphaleia was established in 1999 in order to respond to the needs of marginalised young people in West Sussex. The organisation has grown significantly in size, stature and scope since its inception and now employs over 50 staff and operates within the voluntary, statutory and private sector and delivering high quality services across West Sussex, Brighton and Hove and East Sussex.

We are an organisation with a group of sub-divisions, organised to meet the holistic needs of children and young people up to the age of 24, and to provide services to the organisations that work with them. asphaleia has become a particular specialist with refugee and unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.

We are looking to recruit Panel Members to attend Panel meetings approximately 3-4 times a year. We are specifically, but not limited to, recruiting someone with a background in the medical profession, the legal profession, the Police and ex and/or existing Foster Carer. Previous panel experience is not essential.

**Job Specifics**

The Panel Member will be;
- Expected to attend at least 75% of panels per year
- Required to complete training both face to face and online
- Expected to read all related paperwork sent prior to the panel meeting to ensure being fully prepared to contribute to the discussion
- **Person Specifics**

The successful applicants will have:

- Good references endorsing their ability to undertake this work
- A clear DBS disclosure
- Good communication skills to contribute to the discussion of panel business
- Skills to make decisions based on written and oral information presented
- The ability to work within given timescales
- Access to a PC to receive electronic reports and communications
- Desirable but not essential; experience being a foster carer, looked after child or working in the health or law professions
