Unisurge is the UKs leading manufacturer of Custom Surgical Procedure Trays (CPT). Our activities include cleanroom assembly of kits, sterilisation of product using Ethylene Oxide gas, and transport and distribution of our goods.

**Title**: Microbiologist - Quality Control

**Location**: Farboud Innovation Park, Newmarket

**Roles and Responsibilities**:

- Organise petri dish for environmental analysis of our clean room (settle plates, environmental plates, finger dabs)
- Prepare External Process Control Devices (EPCDs) for loads sterilised at Newmarket
- Inoculate Biological Indicators (BIs), monitor & records results
- Dispose of sterilised BI & media
- Perform routine QC inspection of goods
- Sterile load release - interpreting output of the ETO chamber to ensure parameters are met
- Stock control and ordering of all laboratory consumables
- Maintenance of all lab equipment - either calibrating internally or arranging for external calibrations and servicing
- Assisting in external and internal audits
- Perform all routine laboratory testing including environmental analysis, media acceptance, ETO residue analysis, bioburden testing
- Performing validation analysis for any Unisurge sterilisation or laboratory projects
- Review, update and generate laboratory validation protocols and laboratory standard operating procedures
- Occasional travel to our Castleford site will be required

**Education and Experience**:
**Essential**
- Microbiology degree and understanding of microbiological principles and techniques

**Desirable**
- Knowledge of sterilisation techniques
- Experience in bioburden testing
- Experience of gas chromatography but full training can be provided
- A basic knowledge of quality control and QMS
- Experience in a lab environment
- Knowledge of ISO 13485 & ISO 11135

Pay: £26,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
