**Job Description
Who are we looking for?**
The UK Atomic Energy Authority are seeking to appoint a commercially astute and articulate individual to provide the CEO and Directors with policy, strategy and technical advice across a broad range of issues.
This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of the organisation, liaising with both internal and external stakeholders to deliver our mission as well as coordinating future scenario planning and strategy development.
**What will you be responsible for?**
Assisting the CEO, you will gain a breadth of exposure in various strategic issues and you will take the lead in the development of the corporate plan, in the development of future strategy documents, business cases and policies.
Other responsibilities will include:
Providing briefings to advise the CEO on all major and key issues, anticipating areas of scrutiny, highlighting issues and potential solutions to enable effective outcomes
Acting as secretariat to the UKAEA Board to help enable effective Board decisions and provide assurance that governance activities are executed at board level
Undertaking special projects on behalf of the CEO to further corporate objectives
Establishing and maintaining effective collaborative relationships with the support offices of key government contacts and other stakeholders to ensure an effective flow of information
Liaising with UK government to develop policy and negotiate implementation plans to fulfil UKAEA’s mission
Leading on the development of business cases for government, funding bodies and other stakeholders
Managing the executive office to provide wider executive support to the CFO, CTO and COO, in preparation of business cases, economic analysis, impact assessments etc for the whole organisation
**Qualifications
Essential skills, experience and competence required**
Background in the UK and EU science community with technical, financial and political acumen
Demonstrate initiative and drive to take on a wide variety of challenges at short notice, together with the ability to pick up and learn new things very quickly, linking various strands of work to see the 'big picture'.
Decisive and able to analyse and filter salient information, with accurate attention to detail, in order to inform action and respond quickly
Good networking skills with experience of building and maintaining stakeholder relationships to deliver organisational benefits.
Ability to work autonomously and with discretion, and prioritise effectively, working well under pressure and to tight deadlines.
**Desirable skills, experience and competence**
Preferably with Masters or PhD in relevant background
