**What's the purpose of the role?**:
The Head of Sustainability is a Group role responsible for ensuring that RM continues to build a clear strategy and high quality execution for the company operating as a sustainable business. RM is a purpose-led organisation, operating in the education sector around the world. Sustainability is a critical area for RM, ensuring we are ahead of our regulatory requirements, that we stay relevant for our employees and that we build sustainability into our value proposition for customers. The Head of Sustainability will report to the Group Strategy and Customer Director and work closely with people across RM.

**What does the job entail?**:

- Lead the strategy for Sustainability for RM, framing the market, priorities and opportunities, working across the company to determine execution priorities, investment and differentiation
- Lead the Sustainability Governance Council across the company
- Stay current with compliance and regulatory requirements to ensure RM remains ahead of our obligations
- Lead the production of the Environmental and Social Impact sections of the Annual Report
- Stay current with research and industry trends relating to Social Impact and value
- Ensure we have a robust roadmap to being Carbon Neutral ahead of 2050 for Scope 1, 2 and 3
- Ensure each division has a Sustainability plan that is connected to the Group, but tailored and resourced for their unique priorities
- Engage with customers, partners and industry bodies and support customer facing communicating relating to Sustainability,particularly to differentiate RM from our competitors
- Support key customer engagement and bid responses where Social Value and Sustainability are key components.
- Partner with others across the company working on Sustainability topics, such as equality, learning and skills and health, safety & wellbeing
- Run the Environmental Management System (ISO14001)

**What are we looking for?**:

- The ability to demonstrate technical knowledge of sustainability, environment management, environmental legislation, environmental science and energy management, including ISO 14001
- Have good knowledge of sustainability reporting frameworks and analysing data
- Have significant experience working within sustainability
- Have a strong understanding of the main environmental and sustainability issues impacting Technology and Distribution organisations, including management approaches and execution
- A great written and verbal communicator who can influence and engage stakeholders at all levels across the organisation
- A strong track record of delivery, with the ability to influence others and align execution across extended virtual teams
- Excellent verbal and numerical reasoning skills including monitoring and evaluating, judgement and decision making
