**FINANCE ASSISTANT (TEMP 6 MONTHS WITH POTENTIAL TO BECOME PERMANENT)**

£23,000 - £28,000 (dependent on experience)
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our finance team as a Finance Assistant. You will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the organisation and be reporting directly to the Management Accountant. You will regularly collaborate with your team members on improving the overall financial processes and work in collaboration with the wider organisation. You must possess strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of accounting principles.
**Responsibilities**
- Accurate and efficient processing of the purchase and sales ledgers including responding to business queries
- Reconcile accounts payable and receivable transactions
- Prepare bank reconciliations
- Maintain fixed asset registers
- Prepare month end journal entries
- Assist with inventory management and reconciliations
- Assist Management Accountant & Finance Manager with ad hoc requests
- Assist in preparation of month-end balance sheet reconciliation and monthly VAT returns
- Assist with internal and external audits
- Maintain accounts mailbox
- Contribute to departmental improvement initiatives
- Work closely with other departments to obtain necessary information and provide support as required.
**Skills & Qualifications**
- Excellent IT skills, proficient in MS Office, especially Excel
- Experience in an office based role for at least 1 year
- ERP experience (Xero preferred but not essential)
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to produce a high standard of work whilst working to deadlines
- Strong willingness to learn and ability to take direction
- Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Previous experience in a finance or accounting position for at least 1 year (desirable)
- Accounts payable and receivable experience (desirable)
- AAT qualification or ACCA / CIMA part qualification (desirable)
- VAT experience (desirable)
