**About the Deaf Village**

The **Deaf Village** was created by the **School of Sign Language** which was established in 2006 with the aim of:

- **“Breaking Down the Barriers between the d/Deaf and Hearing Community”**_.

The **Deaf Village** comprises of **School of Sign Language, Our Deaf Hub and the White House Specialist Provisions. These services** provide a safe, supported, social space for Deaf sign language users. We provide a broad range of services and care packages tailored to each individual’s need.

**The Deaf Village - North West CIC**, a Deaf-Led organisation that promotes inclusivity at its core. The Deaf Village aim is to establish, develop, maintain, operate and manage a cohesive and prosperous community where everyone is active, treated fairly and thriving, where people’s faith and cultures are understood and respected, addressing community segregation, reducing social exclusion, enriching all of our lives by developing communities.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide support to our clients within the Deaf Village and also out in the community
- Supporting clients to develop their life skills, such as budgeting, meal planning & preparation, cleaning, washing, generally taking care of their daily lives by proactively supporting and encouraging the client.
- To actively promote and participate in support planning, developing risk assessments, behaviour management.
- Promoting the social and emotional well-being & development of the clients and to consistently strive to further develop these skills.
- Ensuring a firm, caring, consistent, well ordered environment is maintained at all times. This includes ordering essential items such as medication and putting reminders on the Shared Calendar.
- Accompanying clients on recreational and daily living activities, whilst demonstrating being positive role model. Ensuring all client activities and appointments are on the shared calendar.
- Prior to supporting clients, Wellbeing Officers to familiarise themselves with the client Social Services Assessment, Support Plan and Medical information, along with any other documents regarding the clients support needs.
- For all PASS System Support Reports to be completed with all the relevant information and in a timely manner. All Wellbeing Officers receive training and regular updates on recording Report.
- Effective management and translation of important client paperwork, such as bills, healthcare, benefits, and housing etc.
- Ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner and documented in the client’s Daily Log. For tasks that are not able to be completed on your support shift, these tasks need to be put on the Shared Calendar and clearly passed over in the clients Daily Log to the next member of support staff to complete*.
- Please note that tasks passed over to next shift are your responsibility to ensure the task/s have been completed to an acceptable standard.
- Ensuring healthcare needs of the client are met, including making appointments and accompanying them if required and completing the relevant reports.
- Liaising with other staff, professionals as necessary whilst maintaining high levels of professionalism at all times
- Using reflective practice to continually find inspiring alternative ways to engage the client.
- Conducting client 1 to 1’s on a monthly basis
- Promoting and encouraging clients with their medication if required
- Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of clients that the Wellbeing Officer is responsible for, and regularly stay updated in relation to any changes within safeguarding legislation and policy.
- To report immediately to management any noticeable changes in health, behaviour, or circumstances of our clients - maintaining their right to privacy and confidentiality.
- To be a key member of the support team and the ability to work and share workload within a team to meet the client needs and outcomes of the organisation.
- To be innovative, creative and flexible, and has an open mind and a willingness to learn.
- Able to demonstrate empathy, sensitivity, self-awareness and acceptance of others.
