Sitting within our Defence Airframes business line at our Portsmouth manufacturing plant you’ll do just that. Established in 1990, Portsmouth is one of our newer locations with a workforce of circa 200 employees. The site is a leading technology provider for the aerospace, marine and military markets supplying an extensive range of specialist fuel tanks and flotation systems, as well as engineering expertise and support for fixed and rotary wing aircrafts, land vehicles, missiles, UAVs, torpedoes and marine vessels. Our customer base includes Airbus, BAE Systems, Bell, Boeing, General Automics, Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, Jaguar Land Rover, Rolls Royce, Sikorsky, Saab, MOD.
Job Summary
As a Shop Floor Scheduler you’ll join the Supply Chain team, a team of two Schedulers’ and three Master Schedulers’. Reporting into one of our Master Scheduler’s you’ll take responsibility for scheduling and maintaining shop floor production while working closely with the Manufacturing Team Leaders. You’ll work cross functionally with our internal teams in various departments such as Operations, Stores, Finance, Programmes and Commercial. This position is primarily for the production of our fuel systems with the expectation to diversify and be flexible in all areas supporting the team. This will include:
- Being compliant with the Company’s Environmental, Health & Safety and Energy procedures including work processes and procedures around manufacturing
- Proactively communicating and escalating to the Master Scheduler or management potential production execution issues or constraints to trigger preventive actions against potential supply failure
- Monitoring stock cover daily in order to avoid Stock outs as well as overstocks by adjusting the execution sequence if possible or raising the issue with the Master Scheduler
- Daily/Weekly tracking; challenging and reporting schedule adherence with reasons for deviation to Production Management and Master Scheduler

**Essential**:
Demonstrable experience gained within a scheduling or planning role ideally in a Supply Chain environment
Knowledge of EPR/MRP systems dealing with BOM’s (Bill Of Materials) and inventory
Understanding of inventory management and FIFO (First In First Out) FEFO (First Expiry First Out) and Kanban
Knowledge of lean manufacturing processes
Confident communication skills able to work cross functionally across a business
Experience of Microsoft Office Suite at an intermediate level
Be able to work well as an individual and meet targets and deadlines.
Self-driven and team oriented
**Desirable**:
- Experience of using SAP for scheduling
- Experience of lean manufacturing process
- Demonstrable experience of FIFO and FEFO
- Experience of Microsoft Office Suite to an advance level

Please note the working hours for this role are 7.30am till 4.15pm Monday to Friday with every second Friday a non-working day ‘Free Friday’.
