**Job Description - Leisure and Lifestyle**

**Purpose: To plan and implement leisure and lifestyle opportunities appropriate to service users’ needs and requests. To assist the General Manager to organise fundraising events.**

**Care**:
1. To ensure the principles of privacy and dignity are promoted though effective working as part of the team.

2. Help Service Users to socialise within the Home, and provide a variety of leisure and lifestyle opportunities that cater for all tastes.

3. Plan and initiate monthly rolling / individual programme, and encourage service users to maintain pre-existing hobbies.

4. Encourage Staff Members, Relatives and Friends to participate in the Homes activities.

5. Accompany service users, where possible, to off-site leisure and lifestyle opportunities, which may occasionally take place out with normal working hours.

6. Assist with fund raising, and budgeting, for entertainments, materials and outings.

7. Discuss the aims and objectives of recreation therapy with other Staff Members.
- Provide comfort and company, on a one to one basis, for service users who are unable to undertake any form of activity.
- Actively market the home and promote a positive personal / professional profile within the local community, ensuring the good reputation of the Home at all times.
- Ensure all Staff Members know how to use appropriate equipment.

11. To encourage and facilitate service users to participate in leisure pursuits and maintain interests to assist in ensuring their social and emotional needs are met

12. To report and record the well-being of service users, reporting any changes to the General Manager or person in charge

13. To attend meetings as required by the home manager

14. To ensure that furniture and equipment used within the home is clean and used safely, reporting any faulty, equipment or appliances promptly.

15. To ensure that personal equipment of service users is kept clean and in good condition to include items such as wheelchairs, standing frames, hearing aids and glasses

16. To promptly reports complaints, concerns or safeguarding issues to the senior officer in charge, and to provide a contemporaneous record of any such event

17. To undertake cleaning duties as required including replenishing stocks of disposable items and exercising effective measures to exercise cost control at all times

18. To assist in the cleaning and maintenance of communal areas of the home, and ensuring a safe environment is maintained

**Communication**:
19. To promote the good reputation of the service and Abbey Healthcare. Ensuring that good relationships are developed and maintained with service users, their relatives and friends, and all external professionals and outside agencies

20. To promote and maintain good working relationships with all staff within the home, and to work to support conflict resolution, supporting a work’s atmosphere which promotes a high quality experience for service users

21. To be courteous and polite at all times, and to present a professional image, adopting a neat, tidy and clean appearance at all times and wear the appropriate uniform provided by the company as required.

22. To answer external telephone calls professionally and relay messages efficiently

**Training and Development**:
1. To actively participate in the process of supervision, seeking opportunities for personal and professional growth

2. To undertake induction training and participate in training programmes which may be required to meet legislative or company requirements

**General**:
1. To remain awake during working hours

2. To maintain confidentiality at all times

3. To check duty rostas and report actual; hours worked.

4. To cover colleague duties in times of sickness and holidays as required

5. To be familiar with a abide by the companies policies and procedures, working practices and to report any non-conformance promptly in an appropriate manner

6. To be familiar with and comply with the terms and condition, and employee handbook

7. To undertake other duties as may be reasonably requested in order to maintain the smooth running of the home, and to promote and maintain the health and welfare of service users

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 24-35 per week

**Salary**: £10.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability

COVID-19 considerations:
Testing 3 x times weekly. Follow all covid guidelines
