Your new role

National Highways have an exciting opportunity for a new Management Accountant to join our team, this role can be based across the UK.

The Management Accountant supports the team on production and delivery of National Highways annual budget, including reviews and monitoring. They also lead on producing accurate and meaningful financial analysis and reporting to inform planning and decisionmaking. They will need to build and manage effective relationships with colleagues at all levels and external stakeholders.

What you’ll be leading on
- Support National Highways objectives through the development and delivery of timely and effective management information.
- Play a leading role in financial reporting for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Be a key contributor to the annual budgeting and wider financial planning process.
- Provide advice and guidance on the effective and consistent implementation of financial policies and processes.
- Communicate financial information to non-finance professionals through engaging and accessible content.
- Responsible for producing monthly, quarterly and annual financial returns and reports for the Department for Transport (DfT) and Office of Rail and Road (ORR).
- Be a key contact between Financial Control and DfT/ORR.
- Consolidate financial spend risks and opportunities from across the company.
- Use professional judgement and understanding of business requirements to assess the accuracy of forecasts, highlight risks and opportunities.
- Appropriate analysis and reconciliation to confirm accuracy of reporting.
- Contribute to the integrity and efficiency of accounting systems.

To be successful
- Qualified accountant (e.g. CIMA, ACCA) or qualified by experience.
- Industry standard accounting systems knowledge as well as excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Strong track record of delivering outcomes and achievements in a customer focused organisation.
- Experience in the understanding and interpretation of the HM Treasury Consolidated budgeting guidance is desirable.
- Strong evidence of effective people and stakeholder management skills in a complex environment to deliver successful outcomes.
