**Information for the role of Student Health Practitioner (part-time)**

Salary based on a full-time equivalent of £47,421 per annum

Up to 20 hours a week (up to £15,022 per annum, adjusted pro rata)

Permanent, term time only

The Student Health Practitioner (part-time) will work closely with all members of the Wellbeing Service to provide timely, responsive and sensitive support to students experiencing physical ill-health, psychological or emotional difficulties. Guided by the principles of positive physical and mental health promotion, early intervention and prevention, they will:

- Assess, triage, advise, refer and provide follow-up care to students as required.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of support services across the College, University, NHS and third sector.
- Provide clear guidance and signposting to students and student-facing staff, including the Academic Registrar, the Tutorial and Admissions Team, College Porters, Tutors, Directors of Studies and others.

To be considered for this role, you will need to:

- Be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
- Have a sound understanding of safeguarding principles, duty of care and data protection.
- Have previous experience of working with young adults, ideally in a higher education setting, and of dealing with confidential and sensitive information.
- Have excellent interpersonal skills, be highly organised, and be able to balance and prioritise multiple commitments.

**Details of the post**

The post of Student Health Practitioner is a permanent, part-time, term-time only role. We are seeking a Registered General Nurse (RGN) to deliver outstanding health and wellbeing support to Downing students.

The full-time equivalent salary is £47,421 per annum (Step 61 on the College Salary Scale), adjusted pro rata in respect of the post-holder’s hours. The post-holder will work **up to 20 hours a week** **during term**, for a total of **30 weeks a year** (3x10-week blocks, in line with the University’s core operational periods). The salary would equate to £15,022 per annum for 20 hours per week, 30 weeks per year. The role will commence in** September** **2025**.

Please note: this is an in-person, student-facing role. We can offer flexibility around days and hours worked, though one working day should be a Friday. Wherever possible, annual leave should be taken outside term.
