An exciting opportunity has arisen for a vacancy within the Elderly Care North Ward at the Homerton Healthcare Trust. If you want to work in an environment which is fast paced, you enjoy working with members of the public and being part of a team, then working as the Ward Clerk for Elderly Care South is the job for you. The Elderly Care Unit (ECU) is a 28 bed acute short stay ward for patients over 65 years old. We use a mixture of acute medical care and rehabilitation to ensure the needs of each patient are individually met through a multidisciplinary approach. From this unit patients will either be transferred to a ward or be discharged. As a Ward Clerk will have the ability to manage your own caseload, and have a strong track record to be able to demonstrate high quality of admin and reception tasks and communicate effectively to the patient’s and visitors to the unit - Please note that applicants must have the right to work in the UK, without the need for sponsorship - To provide a client centred reception service with respect to greeting patients, visitors and staff. - To effectively deal with internal and external telephone enquiries; resolving queries as appropriate or otherwise passing them onto the appropriate individuals. - To ensure that all relevant information including Healthcare Record are available for all patients. - To record all patient information on the confidential computer system accurately and in ‘real-time’. - After discharge of patient, to document, track and deliver completed Healthcare Records to the appropriate department. - After discharge of patient, to make any outpatient appointments as requested by the clinical team. - To make the relevant transport arrangements for patients and escort(s) as requested by the clinical team via hospital transport/ambulance service. - Where appropriate, to provide additional support with regards catering needs. To assist with booking agency staff and act on any messages in relation to this. - To provide adequate clerical support where required. This includes photocopying notes and district nurse letters.
