We are looking for a Ward Clerk to
- Provide a high-quality clerical administrative service to the ward
- Provide professional attitude toward patients/relatives and clinical staff
- Admit and discharge patients using ICS
The role of the ward clerk is to assist in relieving the Midwifery/ Nursing staff of as many non-midwifery/non-nursing duties as possible under the direct supervision of the Ward manager and Matron.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
**The ward clerk will**:
1. Work collaboratively and Co-operatively with ward colleagues to provide full administrative, reception and clerical support to the ward.
2. Input and retrieve information from ICS, EPRO system
3. Maintain data quality of all activity in the ward
4. Manage patient case notes
5. Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and families.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
**The ward clerk will**:
1. Work collaboratively and Co-operatively with ward colleagues to provide full administrative, reception and clerical support to the ward.

3. Maintain data quality of all activity in the ward
4. Manage patient case notes
5. Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and families.
Key Working Relationships and communication
- Liaise with ward managers/team leaders, clerks and data quality staff to ensure accurate data is maintained.
- Provision of general non clinical advice to patient and their families
- deal with face to face and telephone enquiries in a sympathetic, pleasant and efficient manner, ensuring messages are relayed in an appropriate manner, ensuring messages are relayed in an appropriate and timely manner, referring calls and enquiries to ward Manager where appropriate.
- Report any emergency or potential risk
- Liaise with medical records and other departments to locate patient case notes ensuring that information is current; are filed in good order and that medical staff have access to all relevant information, including test results.
- Ensure that any correspondence from the department (including patient discharge summaries) are appropriately addressed and sent in timely fashion
- Ensure the ward bed state is up to date
- Manage faxing of information and documentation as required by the ward manager/team to ensure timely, effective communication to appropriate areas
- Make follow up clinic appointments for patients being discharged from the ward
- Participate in regular team meetings and discussions on working practices, procedures and policies for own area.
- Promote and maintain good customer care
- May need to deal with patients with communication difficulties
- Maintain patient confidentiality
- Ensure patients notes are kept locked away at all times
- Keep the ward reception desk tidy and clutter free at all times
