**JOB TITLE**:
Support Worker.

**REPORTS TO AND RESPONSIBLE TO**:
The Project Manager who will provide support, supervision and encourage a professional staff development programme.

JOB FUNCTION
- The Support Worker will be expected to build and maintain professional, positive and supportive therapeutic relationships within which service users are encouraged to reach their maximum potential through opportunities for personal growth and development.
- They will be expected to work in a recovery-based approach that enables empowerment and to treat people with dignity and respect.
- The Support Worker will work under the supervision of the Project Manager and ensure that the day to day tasks required to maintain the good running of the Services are undertaken by her/him or by other staff members, volunteers and staff on placement.
- Members of staff will be expected to carry out their duties taking full account of the ethos, values, aims and objectives of ENeRGI.
- The Support Worker may also be asked to undertake other tasks as required and as appropriate to the post holder’s skills.

**KEY TASKS**
- To ensure the day to day arrangements for the smooth running of the Drop-In, Housing Support and Outreach Services takes place. This includes opening and closing the Centre, preparing meals, cleaning and security.
- To provide practical and emotional support for individuals with a wide range of mental health and substance misuse issues.
- To assist service users in developing independent the life and social skills needed to achieve their personal goals.
- To maximise service user individuality and choice.
- To work as part of a team.
- To manage an individual caseload of users as a Key Worker.
- To undertake risk assessments and report concerns to the Project Manager.
- To provide regular written reports as required by the Project Manager on progress of work.
- To work within ENeRGI’s Policies and Procedures, values, aims and objectives and ethos.
- To support, train and supervise volunteers and other staff on placement.
- To assist with publicising the aims of ENeRGI and representing the organisation externally where appropriate.
- To be involved in assessing the needs of service users, agreeing support plans, monitoring and evaluating plans and ensuring a working-in-partnership approach with service users and other agencies.
- To liase with other professionals involved with service users and to involve other professionals when appropriate.
- To record and maintain accurate and up to date relevant statistics.
- To ensure they have a Personal Development Plan and keep up to date with current practice.
- To be familiar with and undertake some functions of the Project Manager in his/her absence, either through leave entitlement, sickness or training requirements. These functions will include the maintenance of accurate records relating to all aspects of the Project, liaison with relevant agencies and support and supervision of staff.

**CRITICAL COMPETENCIES**:
Due to the nature of the post, the post holder will be expected to:

- Communicate effectively at all levels both orally and in writing.
- Set and achieve satisfactory targets and results.
- Have a flexible approach in relation to working out with normal hours.
- Maintain service user and organisational confidentiality.
- Be able to travel across an area that is largely rural.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- S.V.Q. Level 2 Health and Social care or equivalent qualification.

**SUMMARY OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS**

Holiday entitlement is 25 days per annum with 10 days public holidays (pro rata for part time staff). Giving 35 days entitlement total.

Staff will be paid monthly direct to bank account or by cheque.

Approved hours worked in excess of contracted hours will not be paid for, instead time off in lieu will be granted in accordance with the needs of ENeRGI and as agreed by the Project Manager.
