Opportunity Sheffield **Information Advice & Guidance Support Officer**
This is an exciting time to come and work for Opportunity Sheffield, Sheffield City Council’s Employment & Skills Service, having secured both the Economic Inactivity Trailblazer and UKSPF funding, we have an opportunity to make a difference to the lives of adults and young people across Sheffield, supporting residents to move into meaningful paid employment. These employment support projects will include contracts to support targeted groups, individuals with specialist health requirements, people on probation and economically inactive/socially excluded individuals.
We are looking to recruit Information, Advice & Guidance (IAG) Officers to join the Opportunity Sheffield Team and provide a professional and impartial IAG function for people looking to move into meaningful paid employment. This role will report directly to the Strategic Support Co-ordinator and will focus primarily on supporting unemployed and economically inactive residents to engage with training and support in order to access employment opportunities.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible, innovative, and forward-thinking members of staff who are experienced in working in a fast paced environment and can support the delivery of a funded programme of employment, economic inclusion, and skills.
The individual will be expected to have knowledge, understanding and experience of providing Information, Advice & Guidance in a career or ‘into employment’ related role, to include:
- Delivering professional and impartial IAG for participants accessing employment support through Opportunity Sheffield
- Working with internal and external partners to support the delivery of high quality IAG
- Connecting any potential participants accessing the service with opportunities that will enhance their own progression pathway and next steps towards meaningful and sustained employment
- Being a positive advocate for the service, programme offer and marketing of impartial opportunities for participants
- Supporting learners in progressing to employment initiatives within the service and/or further learning
- Having a solid understanding of the programme and to effectively support project delivery targets.
- Supporting the continuous improvement of employment projects
- Effectively & efficiently planning and organising own workload
- Alongside the Strategic Support Co-ordinator, seek innovative ways to support or respond to the local employment demands
- Identifying and highlighting potential risks and opportunities to programme managers

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.
If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
