Opportunity Sheffield **Information Advice & Guidance Officer-Employment Support**

It’s an exciting time to work for Opportunity Sheffield, our aim is to make a difference to the lives of adults and young people across Sheffield. The service is integral to the delivery of the Economic Inactivity Trailblazer pilot awarded to South Yorkshire, has received an extension to the Shared Prosperity Funded programme and is looking forward to working on the Connect 2 Work programme from September. These employment support projects will include contracts to support targeted groups, individuals with specialist health requirements, people on probation and economically inactive/socially excluded individuals.

We are seeking to recruit an individual to the post of ‘Information Advice & Guidance Officer-Employment Support’ within the Opportunity Sheffield team (Sheffield City Council's Employment and Skills service). This role will report to the Strategic Support Co-ordinator and will provide a professional and impartial IAG function for unemployed and economically inactive people, looking to move into sustained and meaningful paid employment. This will involve working with partnership organisations including the Sheffield Probation Service, Housing Associations and DWP.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible, innovative, and forward-thinking individual who can support and manage the delivery of this programme of employment, economic inclusion, and skills.

The individual will be expected to have knowledge, understanding and experience of providing Information, Advice & Guidance in a career or ‘into employment’ related role.

Duties to include:

- Deliver professional and impartial IAG for participants accessing employment support through Opportunity Sheffield
- Work with internal and external partners to support the delivery of high quality IAG
- Connect participants accessing the service with opportunities that will enhance their career progression pathway, and next steps towards meaningful and sustained employment
- Be a positive advocate for the service, programme offer and marketing of impartial opportunities for participants
- Support participants to progress to employment initiatives within the service and/or further learning
- Have a solid understanding of the programme and effectively support project delivery targets.
- Support the continuous improvement of employment projects
- Effectively & efficiently plan and organise own workload
- Alongside the Strategic Support Co-ordinator, seek innovative ways to support or respond to the local employment demands
- Identify and highlight potential risks and opportunities to programme managers

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
