This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and organised coordinator, to support Estates & Facilities (E&F) in the management of our energy, water and carbon, as part of our commitments to sustainability and climate action and to support King’s in its mission to make the world a better place.
Energy, water, and carbon management plays a critical part in our contribution to the university’s climate and sustainability ambitions. The Energy Coordinator is responsible to the Energy & Carbon Manager to support management of the utilities budget and contracts to deliver on long term energy and cost security for the university, whilst also supporting the delivery of the university’s decarbonisation plan as part of the wider King’s Climate and Sustainability Action Plan. You will harness the power of our 800+ E&F staff to formulate operational/tactical plans and deliver to agreed targets that enable their respective areas to positively contribute to E&F’s responsibilities as the stewards of the university’s estate.
You will be a detail-oriented coordinator with a passion for sustainability and interest in helping the team to operate efficiently and effectively with enthusiasm for identifying gaps and process improvements. You will use data and insights to drive greater understanding of our energy usage and surface efficiency opportunities.
As a member of the Business Services Team, you will become a valued and trusted contributor within the team in their area of specialism, working collaboratively with your peers to support the team’s overall objectives.

This post will be offered on an indefinite contract
This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent (FTE). Requests will also be considered for applicants who wish to undertake as part time role (minimum 0.8FTE).
Key responsibilities
- Support the Energy & Carbon Manager in energy, water, and carbon related finance and procurement activities which includes:
o Support coordination of the utilities budget and utilities related contracts to deliver value for money, long term energy and cost security for the university
o Prepare internal monthly and ad-hoc financial reports on current spend and forecasts against budget (including variances, risks, and opportunities)
o Support procurement-related tasks and reporting, including vendor on-boarding, direct debit enrolment, contact processing, purchase order initiation, accruals, and invoice tracking
o Develop and maintain effective relationships with operational E&F colleagues, finance, and other key cross-functional partners to enable efficient utilities-related finance and procurement activities
o Liaise with relevant internal and external parties to resolve day to day queries, which includes but is not limited to maintaining meter readings, meter installation and meter maintenance
- Support the Energy & Carbon Manager in energy, water, and carbon related internal and external data, reporting and compliance activities which includes:
o Maintain and continuously improve the university’s utilities monitoring and targeting system and respond to internal and external data reporting requirements
o Assist with the development and maintenance of internal tools and data/ target tracking systems which include the use of engaging data visualisation to support water, energy, and carbon management (e.g., SharePoint sites, document libraries, Power Bi dashboards)
o Coordinate the management of Display Energy Certificates and Energy Performance Certificates and support compliance with other relevant legislative requirements as required
o Support the maintenance of the university’s ISO14001 certification as required related to energy, carbon and water which includes management of compliance register, maintaining and reviewing policies and procedures, data and target progress reporting, maintenance of records, and supporting internal and external audit programme
o Provide governance support to the Energy Management function ensuring Directorate and College guidelines are adhered, which includes delivering secretariat support to the Energy Risk Management Committee and other related meetings.
o Analyse data and report on action(s) that will improve performance and value by:
- Conditioning raw data prepare support files and input data for all university premises
- To ensure validation of invoices is carried out
- To undertake analysis of consumptions/costs and prepare reports on findings
- Prepare normalised performance indicators in the form of league tables for benchmarking purposes
