Innovation Specialist

**About The Role**:
Motability Operations are recruiting for an Innovation Specialist - Design to join our Innovation Team in Bristol or London on a full-time, permanent basis.

We run the Motability scheme. We exist to give freedom and independence to people with disabilities. Today we run one of Europe’s biggest car fleets, with over 670,000 customers.

But mobility is going through a rapid transformation. Our business is impacted by everything from electrification and shared vehicle ownership to micromobility and mobility as a service.

Reporting to the Innovation Manager, in this role, you will:

- Develop a deep understanding of our customers and the challenges and opportunities that are emerging as mobility goes through a once in a generation transformation
- Work with start-ups and disruptors in the mobility & accessibility space and in adjacent fields like energy to help us test new products and services that can transform our customers lives
- Launch and scale new products and services to drive MO’s ambitions in accessible mobility and champion a culture of innovation across MO
- Support innovation initiatives as they develop within the wider MO business
- Explore new opportunities as new technologies and trends emerge

As part of the growing innovation team, you’ll be at the forefront of the MO business. This is a fast-paced and evolving space with a key element of this role being variety. As Innovation Specialist, you will:

- Research & analyse key customer data to uncover insights that can be translated into impactful pilot projects that improve the mobility of the disabled population in the UK
- Design, launch, manage & scale pilot projects that can lead to new value propositions for MO customers
- Analyse data and insights from pilots to validate or disprove key assumptions, and gain learnings about MO customers
- Forge, maintain and develop relationships with leading start-ups, investors, corporates, and innovators
- Liaise with internal teams including legal, marketing, customer insights and customer support, to ensure the effective delivery and management of partnerships

**About You**:

- You have a passion for aesthetics, composition, and visual storytelling and a good understanding of design principles
- You enjoy translating conceptual ideas into visually compelling assets and have a natural ability to balance form and function
- You’re creative, able to think outside the box and see opportunity within a challenge
- You’re a true team player, you thrive working collaboratively
- You’re curious and driven to get to the root cause of a problem or the true answer to a research question
- You thrive working at pace and with autonomy to make decisions and drive progress

**Minimum criteria**:

- You have experience in start-up, consulting, innovation, or related areas and have a track record of driving progress leading or as part of small team
- You’re passionate about the start-up world and the future opportunities in accessible mobility
- You’re well-versed in digital and venture trends and can “cut through the hype” to understand the potential impact and envision a business model for key technologies and solutions
