Chichester College have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a **Information Governance Assistant **at our **Chichester campus**. You will join us on a** full-time, permanent basis (37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year).** In return, we will offer a competitive salary of** £20,070 - £21,700** **per annum.**

**The Chichester College Group**is the largest provider of further education in Sussex and is comprised of 5 Colleges based at Chichester, Crawley, Worthing, Haywards Heath, and Brinsbury near Pulborough which is land-based. Through our colleges,we educate and train around 25,000 full and part-time students every year and provide teaching excellence to meet the future needs of the region's employers.

**The Information Governance Assistant role**:
As our **Information Governance Assistant,** you will support the Data Protection Officer in advising the Group and monitoring compliance with UK and EU privacy legislation including the UK GDPR, EU GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, the Privacyand Electronic Communications Regulations and Freedom of Information Act. You will also act as the nominated deputy for the Group’s Data Protection Officer (DPO), in their absence.

With increasing risks associated with data protection and cyber security and the need to ensure we regularly monitor, advise on, and remain resilient in our data protection activities.

**Key Responsibilities of our Information Governance Assistant**:

- Supporting the DPO in achieving and maintaining compliance with DP, Freedom of Information (FOI) and associated legislation
- Supporting the DPO in managing compliance projects and, with direction from the DPO, monitor actions towards achieving agreed timescales
- Assisting in the creation, collection and ongoing maintenance of comprehensive records of the Group’s data processing activities in relation to personal data
- Facilitating the development of retention and disposal schedules and oversee the management of electronic and paper-based information in line with those schedules
- Contributing to the creation and revision of policies and procedures
- Supporting the DPO in raising awareness of DP and FOI across all levels of staff, students and other stakeholders
- Working with departments, supporting the Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) process including supplier due diligence and review of third-party contracts, including those involving international data transfers
- Providing a contact point for DP and FOI queries from all stakeholders (including staff, students, employers and members of the public)
- Actively auditing compliance with DP/FOI policies and legislation

**Our ideal Information Governance Assistant should have the below skills and experience**:

- Expereince working in an administrative role
- Experience keeping and maintaining accurate records
- Excellent knowledge of data protection, data privacy, freedom of information and the issues that organisations may face
- General education to level 3 or above
- The ability to communicate to a diverse range of people at all levels, verbally and in writing
