Training Area Operative

Job Introduction
Landmarc Support Services is currently seeking to recruit a Training Area Operative - Rural at West Tofts Camp in Norfolk.

As the Training Area Operative - Rural, you will play a key part in helping to maintain a safe, efficient and sustainable place for our Armed Forces to train.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about wildlife and working outdoors in a rural environment. Our rural team work to maintain the estate with conservation projects such as; habitat management and restoration, woodland management, looking after water ways (reed clearance) through to basic tree ID to ensure species such as bats, badgers and great crested newts are protected following the wildlife act 1981.

Previous experience in a similar industry is desirable but not essential, Landmarc offer great career progression and will provide full training to the successful applicant.

This role is based on a permanent contract covering 37 hours a week. There will be a requirement to work some weekends, this is reflected in our Variable Days Allowance.

Main Responsibilities
Rural estate maintenance works

Fencing repairs and maintenance

Stone track repairs and maintenance

Vegetation cutting

Small scale forestry works including; felling, tree planting, coppicing

Driving and operating fleet vehicles, plant and machinery

Other general countryside management tasks

To liaise with stakeholders, contractors and other teams

Use both IT and paper based systems to complete relevant documentation

Knowledge of Health and Safety such as COSHH, manual handling, risk assessments and safe systems of work

Ability to work in a small team and on own initiative

Enthusiasm and passion for environmental conservation and working outdoors

Ability to complete documentation

Basic IT skills

Must hold a full valid UK driving licence (essential)

Hold valid tickets for Lantra or city and guilds qualifications such as tractor, chainsaw, pole pruner, strimmer, 4x4 off road (desirable)
