**About the Role**
This role will manage the Charity’s patient family stories portfolio and play a leading role in ensuring that the right families and most compelling stories feature across our communications, events and fundraising initiatives, ensuring families have a positiveexperience throughout. Ensure that the Charity works with a broad range of families and patients at any one time, adhering to our equality, diversity & inclusion (EDI) commitments by demonstrating the Hospital’s national impact, the communities it serves andthe range of very specialised work that takes place at the Hospital. In addition, the role will lead on conducting sensitive interviews with patient families and write thorough family stories that demonstrate the impact of our funding areas, allocating andsharing them appropriately with the Charity.
**About the Team**
This role plays a central role within the Communications Department in ensuring that families’ stories are captured and managed in a thoughtful, compelling, and responsible way. As a member of the Family Stories Team, you will work closely with key Hospitaland Charity stakeholders and be instrumental in identifying and capturing a range of stories that support a patient & family engagement strategy. You will also be an active member of the wider Communications team and will contribute to a variety of excitingactivities and innovative complex projects, requiring a range of skills.
**About You**
We are looking for a highly efficient and passionate storyteller who enjoys working as part of a fast-moving team that works closely with GOSH’s patients and families, as well as with internal staff, donors, media, and celebrity supporters.
- Experience working with children and families in sensitive situations
- Proven track record of working in a hospital and / or fundraising organisation
- Exceptional communication skills: excellent written skills, ability to listen and clarify, to be tactful, diplomatic, and persuasive when providing advice
- Experience of effectively communicating with and influencing all levels of an organisation
- An understanding of, as well as the ability to maintain (for self and others), the confidentiality of personal data, including knowledge of relevant compliance and governance obligations
- A good understanding of the NHS, child health and the changing NHS environment
- Ability to effectively build relationships and use influencing skills in sensitive situations
- Ability to respond calmly to difficult and challenging situations
- Ability to carefully manage a range of stakeholders, often balancing competing views with tact to reach an amicable solution
