Purpose of the Job:
Build a strong technical relationship with a key strategic partner ensuring the successful transfer of intellectual property to the partner organisation. Following a successful technology transfer the Lead Engineer will become a crucial interface and technicalresource for all subsequent joint development activities required to develop mass manufacturing processes for the production of our product Therefore, enabling our partner to realise their product volume ambitions and commercial cost targets.
A key accountability of the role will be to facilitate rapid, full and effective communication between the UK and the strategic partners project working teams. Using their existing extensive manufacturing knowledge, and further learnings following specifictraining in our technology, the Lead Engineer will work directly with the partner organisation and the selected supplier base to develop the production process collaboratively with the our team.
For the collaborative project objectives (for example delivery of volume production lines) the Lead Engineer will ensure that our technical targets are clearly understood and articulated by the project partner and appointed sub-contractors, working with theTechnology Transfer Manager and Project Management Office to ensure the appropriate delivery team can be assembled and that the work programme as defined in the statement of work (SoW) is delivered successfully.
The Lead Engineer will be required to recognise and react to emerging challenges and difficulties as they occur and to ensure that our UK team are fully engaged to support their rapid resolution. The Lead Engineer will compile and deliver regular technicalstatus reports to the Technology Transfer Manager and Commercial Steering Committee to ensure project progress can be effectively monitored and controlled.

Key Interfaces:
- OEM: Working closely with a Key strategic partner OEM on the defined commercial project.
- Sub-contract partners: Work closely with the wider approved supplier base.
- The Business: The dedicated customer project team and our IP and Legal teams.

Key Accountabilities:
- Key technical interface between our UK teams and strategic partners
- Ensuring that the realisation of our mass manufacturing strategy is achieved through development and validation of mass manufacturing processes capable of achieving customer required cost points.
- Recognise emerging challenges and issues and ensure these are rapidly communicated for escalation as required,
- Working with stakeholders to develop and successfully deliver Technology Transfer plans, securing stakeholder-buy-in; building ad-hoc teams to facilitate successful transfer.
- Provide technical support and training of partner manufacturing personnel
- Technical oversight of documentation, reports and confidential information provided to OEM partners.
- Manage IP- track IP space, release of existing IP, creation new IP and support patent process.
- Delivery and Risk: Working directly with the Technology Transfer Manager and Programme Management to ensure technical and delivery risks are effectively managed.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
- Significant engineering experience, likely obtained with a globally recognised OEM
- Substantial demonstrated experienced in high volume manufacturing processes, technology transfer and development and implementation of capex plans to delivery factory manufacturing capacity
- Evidence of ability to innovate and work collaboratively within teams and between partner organisations
- Passionate and communicative with a strong sense of task-focus; able to connect the team with the goal
- A clear communicator at all levels with the ability to challenge and influence cross-functionality
- Superior problem-solving skills addressing multi-part problems with high levels of uncertainty
- Very strong interpersonal skills - able to work effectively with different kinds of communities with different norms and communication styles.
- Comfort with communicating with and influencing senior stakeholders

- Production line development and delivery (specification development, supplier selection, contract definitions, PAT and FAT testing, fault resolution, process validation)
- Cost forecasting, developing and managing capital expenditure budgets
- Managing high value projects with external stake holders
- Creating, recognising and securing IP based on project innovations
- Implementation of Six-Sigma and Lean methodologies to improve production capability (cost, quality, yield)
