Job Description

Summary

We are seeking to fill a Field Service Engineer position in the Heidelberg, Germany area. Field Service Engineers perform routine and complex work related to the calibration and maintenance of process and laboratory equipment and instrumentation. We have field positions which requires individuals to work at multiple locations for multiple customers. Candidates must be able to work well in a team environment or individually as well as work with minimal supervision when necessary. Engineers are trained to provide superior onsite calibration and maintenance services. They perform these services according to their skill and experience on a variety of equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for on-site installation, implementation, maintenance and repair of Teledyne Pharma products.

  • Installs and optimizes hardware/software/network products and configurations at customer sites.

  • Diagnoses and resolves product performance problems.

  • Performs maintenance and repair services.

  • Ensures customer satisfaction by advising customers on preventive maintenance and configurations, which may impact product performance.

  • Proactively responds to potential equipment issues to prevent unplanned interruption of customers' business.

  • Serves as an internal resource on technical issues. May train other field engineers or customers.

  • May calibrate equipment on-site for large volume customers.

  • Works on on-site customer service and support assignments with broadly defined objectives

  • Solves non-routine issues, challenges and problems within field of specialization

Education and/or Experience

Prefer Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry or related scientific study; would also consider those with an Associate's degree (A. A.) in Engineering or an equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and 5 years related experience in laboratory troubleshooting/repairing analytical equipment and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidate should possess experience in the analytical laboratory, or analytical instrument service with an understanding of calibration and or repair

Other Requirements

  • Ability to be analytical, solve problems, and provide technical skills

  • Experience with customer service- Responds promptly, Meets commitments

  • Work well with other team members

  • Professional written and oral communication skills

  • Individual should have knowledge of Excel Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

  • Ability to travel including some overnight travel up to 75% of the time

  • A valid driver's license is required for this role

Terms and package

Location: Home office based (Heidelberg, Germany area).  Teledyne ISCO is headquartered in Lincoln Nebraska, USA.  Teledyne Hanson is headquartered in Chatsworth, CA.  We have a sister company, Teledyne LeCroy Ltd, based in Heidelberg, Germany.  They will provide HR and other admin and local logistic support.

Driving License: Needs to be acceptable in the Germany

Tools:  A computer and mobile phone are provided by the company along with any other necessary tools necessary for the employee to conduct their duties
