**Location: St Pauls, London (Office based 2 days a week)**

Mintel is a global market intelligence company, headquartered in London, UK. We work with the world's most renowned consumer packaged goods companies, suppliers and academic institutions. Mintel is now looking for a Chinese to English Translator to join the Digital Publishing team to support the continued success of Mintel China Reports.

This opportunity will offer you the chance to develop your expertise as a linguist, specialising in translation with advanced technological skills, as well as building knowledge on market trends and consumer behaviour.

**Responsibilities**:

- Translating and post-editing machine translation of Mintel content from Simplified Chinese to English, ensuring that the target text is with maximal fluency and free of errors, literal translations and cumbersome expressions so the China content is readily comprehensible to English-speaking readers
- Proofreading, editing, revising and finalising translated content including visual assets to ensure format (e.g. font and structure) and language (e.g. spelling, grammar, punctuation, industry-specific terminology) accuracy
- Ensuring that all English content created for China Reports are consistent and in line with Mintel style
- Performing on-demand translation tasks from Chinese to English
- Preparing, managing and maintaining the Chinese language materials (including Term base, Style Guides, Translation Memories) up to the quality standards and up to date
- Collaborating with other translators and localisation specialists to resolve questions on terminology and language matters
- Liaising effectively with analysts in different offices to discuss any unclear points
- Working as part of the team to ensure all departmental deadlines are met
- Reviewing freelancers' translation
- Participating in the development of new and improved working process, including incorporating new technology in the translation industry

**Qualifications required**:
**Education**:
**Language**:

- Proficiency in English and Chinese, with English fluent to the highest level of speaking and writing, ability to read and comprehend Chinese business writing and cultural nuances
- HSK level 6 qualification preferred

**Abilities and skills**:

- Heightened attention to detail
- A good command of CAT tools, in particular Trados and RWS Translation Management Systems
- Experience in translation and machine-translation-post-editing preferred
- Comfortable with digital work on an in-house CMS
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft packages
- Ability to work effectively and be able to meet tight deadlines
- Ability to analyse the macrostructure of the content and its overall coherence; reading critically and ask questions
- Strong commercial awareness
- Good cultural knowledge of China and experience living in China would be a strong advantage
- Well-grounded understanding of or interests in consumer markets would be an added advantage
