**Job summary**:
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Medical Exposures Group (MEG). We are seeking a registered clinical scientist with experience in nuclear medicine who is looking for a different perspective to their career development.

MEG is a multidisciplinary team who provide advice and support to a range of organisations including government, professional bodies, hospitals and clinics on medical exposures, regulatory and radiation protection issues, and safe clinical practice in the UK.

This is a great opportunity to bring your clinical knowledge and experience to a specialist team whilst maintaining your expertise in the latest developments in nuclear medicine. The role involves some travel and a flexible approach to working is required.

**Job description**:
The job holder will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities and duties:

- Providing authoritative, up-to-date advice on safe clinical practice in nuclear medicine and associated radiation protection issues
- Provide support and advice to inspectors during inspections on the implementation of IR(ME)R in clinical practice as required.
- communicate scientific and technical information with a range of healthcare professionals and research trial sponsor organisations.
- authorise employer and practitioner licences issued under IR(ME)R 2017 on behalf of the Licensing Authorities following completion of quality assurance checks.
- Participate in the UKHSA response to emergencies and exercises, in accordance with the roles described in the UKHSA Emergency Plan.

**Person specification**:
**Essential**
- MSc in Medical Physics or equivalent.
- ** HCPC registration as Clinical Scientist**:

- Established and experienced state registered healthcare professional who can provide analysis of practices and advice to enable regulatory compliance and improved clinical practice.
- Proven track record of successful working at a senior level in nuclear medicine physics with experience of successfully leading a project within own area of expertise and facilitating and managing change
- High level of specialist knowledge of nuclear medicine, as well as up-to-date knowledge of the technological developments in this area
- Ability to assess complex situations and interpret detailed documents that may include legislation.
- Ability to present own work and provide training and discussion in a number of different formal and informal settings.

**Desirable**
- PhD or equivalent research experience
- Experience in giving training lectures and preparing training material. This may include presentations and advice to a wide range of stakeholders.
- Have an understanding of international radiation protection standards and guidelines.
