**Remote based with occasional travel to Head Office**
**Job Purpose**
As part of the Executive Leadership Team, the Chief Financial Officer is responsible for leading key business functions - comprising of the finance, governance
The CFO works in partnership with the CEO, the Board and other members of the Executive Leadership team to create the long-term strategy for the organisation, ensuring we deliver for our core values.
**The Person - Experience Expertise**
- Significant leadership experience in a complex and growing organisation - preferably within charity sector
- Evidence of change management and delivery of financial leadership in such an organisation
- Proven success of achieving excellence in teams, who are highly respected for their expertise and energy
- Demonstrates leadership of others to formulate solutions to complex problems, providing strategic and operational guidance.
- A formal accounting qualification (ideally ACA or ICAS)
- Displays leadership and creates a vision for the Finance & Governance Directorate functions, which underpin the strategic objectives
- Role models excellent behaviours and sets stretching goals to drive performance in the leadership team and broader organisation
- Works collaboratively across the organisation to achieve proactive engagement in the Directorate core functions and operates as an organisation-wide leader
- Demonstrates a flexible and adaptable approach to manging change and ambiguity
- Forward thinking with a strategic view that looks to create sustainable and scalable strategies
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to build relationships and influence stakeholders internally and externally
**The Role - Key Accountabilities**
- Support the CEO in ensuring the development and execution of strategies to create and protect long term value and deliver on our priorities for impact
- Provide leadership and future vision across the direct activities of the Finance, Governance, providing clear advice and decisions on complex issues
- Work collaboratively and cross functionally with the executive and senior leadership teams to ensure accurate understanding of the drivers of our impact, performance reporting and forecasting
- Advise other Directors and senior budget holders to optimise their budgets and maximise opportunities to increase our positive impact
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial statements and full compliance with all laws and regulations
- To challenge and contribute constructively to executive team and Board decision-making
- To ensure appropriate financial strategies, overseeing financial performance, liquidity and cash flow management.
- Maintain a strong external relationship with key financial institutions, external auditors, other NGOs and professional advisors
- Build and maintain effective relationships with Board, fellow members of the executive leadership team, senior leaders and other stakeholders by gaining buy-in and understanding
- Work successfully with consultants contracted to provide professional services to the Trust.
- Develop and nurture strong relationships with the wider senior leaders’ team to gain their active support for the transformation agenda.
- Lead and manage a highly driven professional and proficient team
- Budget management whilst delivering changing and complex business requirements.
- Responsible for complex financial systems and datasets to enable effective delivery of the finance and wider functions.
