**Job Description Summary**:
Customer Solution Engineer - Asset Control
- Designs and produces competitive technical solutions for SCADA/ADMS (Advanced Distribution Systems) tenders in Europe / Africa / Middle East region. SCADA/ADMS can comprise a mix of COTS and GE proprietary software.
- As necessary, also produce offer for SCADA/AEMS (Transmission), WAMS (Wide Area Monitoring System) or analytics tenders
- The role is a technical one, yet the actual project delivery is not part of it.

**Roles and Responsibilities**
- To establish a deep understanding of our customers’ business and technical needs.
- To design, describe, and defend competitive Technical and cost-optimized offers in the EMEA region, using GE ADMS solution and more generally GE Asset Control portfolio (AEMS, WAMS, etc.)
- To translate customer requirements into existing product building blocks and / or roadmap, and design what it takes to fill the gap for technical offers in the EMEA region. This shall be done while carefully analyzing and tuning the compliance versus cost balance.
- To design and produce competitive offers for SCADA/ADMS new systems, or to address new business cases or regulatory changes for existing customers. Offers might include both hardware, third party software and GE software. In any case, sound, secured, and cost optimized architecture shall be designed.
- To use estimating configurators to determine effort that will be required to install, configure, and test the proposed solution. To own the decision owner when adjusting the effort estimates.
- To alleviate or limit risks of future technical or financial deviations during project.
- To convince both internally and externally of the design choices he/she made for a wide range of audience (managers, operators, developers, IT people...)
- To defend the commercial value of the offers, insofar possible in relation with the initial customer business / use cases.- To accompany and to support GE customers in their own innovation programs, particularly when driven by Ofgem.
- To develop evolution path and migration plans for key GE customers from their current system to the target GE product strategy (in particular next generation of SCADA/ADMS).
- To drive excellence and suggests improvements and new ideas: to listen and to suggest.
- Note: 50% of the offers are competitive with 2 to 5 bidders, usually always the same. Price range is usually between 1 M€ and 8M€. RFP processes last from 2 to 12 months which means several offers run in parallel.

**Mandatory competencies**:

- Knowledge of electrical grids, or electrical engineering background
- Hands on experience on any ADMS product

**Highly desirable competencies**:

- Hands on experience of GE ADMS product, preferably Series 6 (PowerOn)
- Soft skills: business acumen, capability to convince, and writing skills
- Capacity to work under strong time pressure
- Knowledge of IT products, costs, licensing rules and limitations, and capacity to optimize offers.
- Knowledge of distribution utilities role, evolution, and challenges.
- Good knowledge or experience with real time systems (e.g. SCADA, embedded software )

**Desirable competencies**:

- Demonstrable experience of designing or building secured and complex IT systems
- International experience of working with other cultures
- Experience in tendering
- Basic knowledge of main commercial and financial principles
- Basic knowledge of main planning and project principles
- Any language other than English
- Geographical mobility (a few days once or twice a year)
