**Your role at a glance**

Our Group Procurement function are excited to announce an opportunity for an experienced leader, with expertise in Sustainability, to join in the brand-new role of Sustainability Procurement Lead.

In this exciting role you’ll develop, deliver, and monitor a best in class Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy as it pertains to Legal & General’s supply chain. Working closely with the broader business, you’ll translate the corporate sustainability goals in to a clear and succinct procurement strategy that will deliver our ambitions within set timescales.

You will be accountable for setting clear policy and procedures within the Group Procurement function that drive an inclusive and sustainable supplier strategy to deliver against L&G organisational goals and to support a diverse and sustainable supply chain.

Finally, you’ll act as an SME on all topics relating to ESG Supply Chain, supporting both sourcing and supplier management teams during the supplier lifecycle to assess suppliers ESG responses during due diligence and reviewing ongoing plans to further improve ESG credentials.

You’ll be operating across all areas of the business to develop a community of interest with internal stakeholders, as well as working with a variety of top suppliers. This is a role that gives you excellent exposure, offers fantastic potential, as well as ample opportunity whilst working in an emerging, forward thinking, and innovative Procurement team.

**What you'll be doing**
- Accountable for setting, maintaining and monitoring compliance to ESG-supply chain policy and procedures.
- Work collaboratively across Sourcing and Supplier Management teams to identify carbon hot spots across L&G supply chain, ensuring plans in place to ensure reduction of carbon is in line with organisational net zero targets.
- Support Sourcing and Supplier Management teams to develop effective plans to improve sustainable and diverse supply chain.
- Enable appropriate governance is in place to measure and report upon initiatives including, but not limited to; supplier code of conduct, usage of SME’s, modern slavery & human rights on high-risk areas, carbon emission reduction, biodiversity impacts and supply chain diversity
- Actively engaging & upskilling the Procurement team, Supplier relationship managers and the wider business to deliver the aims of the programme
- Develop and execute a communications programme, targeting a wide audience, internally and externally, to support the successful deployment of the programme aims.
- Building a strong network of organisations and contributors (peers, relevant bodies & groups) to help drive the maturity evolution of the ESG agenda both internally and externally. Represent L&G in relevant industry forums
- Build meaningful reporting to share with our stakeholders and drive focused action plans

**Qualifications** What we're looking for**
- In depth knowledge of ESG methodologies, reporting & standards (e.g. TCFDs, GHG, GRI, CDP, SBTi, ISO20400)
- Strong business partnering skills and experience, to successfully engage with and influence internal and external key stakeholders and peers.
- A track record of experience in supply chain sustainability & ESG, including delivery of sustainability and supplier diversity programmes & initiatives in complex business environments would be highly advantageous.
- Extensive knowledge of procurement best practice and innovation would be advantageous.
