**TITLE OF POST**: Data Quality Officer

**RESPONSIBLE TO**: Database Manager

**STATUS**: Full Time (permanent)

**SALARY**: £25 - £27k (dependent on experience)

Open Awards is recruiting for a Data Quality Officer to take responsibility for ensuring the accuracy of data and the functionality of databases we use.

Working as part of a data team, the post will sit within the Quality and Standards department and work with colleagues across the organisation and our stakeholders.

**FUNCTIONS OF THE POST**:

- To perform regular tests on the functionality of databases used by Open Awards to ensure they remain fit for purpose.
- To identify data entry errors and recommend solutions to colleagues.
- To provide training and support to customers and colleagues on the functionality of databases used by Open Awards.
- To work in conjunction with colleagues to implement Open Awards’ data strategy.

**MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Functional responsibilities**
- To perform regular tests on the functionality of databases used by Open Awards to ensure they remain fit for purpose.
- To perform regular validation checks on the quality of data on Open Awards databases - including contacts, products and activities.
- To test all database developments (including system upgrades and internal process developments) to ensure accuracy and effectiveness prior to implementation.
- To identify data entry errors and recommend solutions to colleagues.
- To undertake weekly checks on data quality to identify errors with data entry, processes and reports.
- To produce monthly summaries of data quality issues to the Database Manager.
- To liaise with colleagues to develop resolutions to errors identified in a timely manner.
- To check all qualifications and assessments on Open Awards databases have been built accurately in line with stated requirements (including titles, rules of combination, unit structures, awarding policies and mark schemes).
- To provide training and support to customers and colleagues on the functionality of databases used by Open Awards.
- To act as first line ICT Helpdesk support to customers and staff on issues with the functionality of databases, escalating to colleagues as necessary.
- To develop clear guidance on solutions to commonly occurring errors and disseminate to staff.
- To develop and implement a schedule of staff training to improve efficiency in using the database.
- To develop and implement customer training on systems and process developments.
- To produce and manage interactive forms and guidance documents for customers and staff.
- To work in conjunction with colleagues to implement Open Awards’ data strategy.
- To work with the data team and colleagues across the organisation to plan the improvement of data quality.
- To support the Database Manager to implement the timely development of databases, including liaising with database developers.
- To work with Database and Regulatory Reporting Officer and Data Analyst to ensure the accuracy of all data needed to meet regulatory requirements.
- To work with colleagues from across the organisation to ensure that operational processes are fit for purpose.
- Define problems, set up workplans, analyse and communicate data solutions.
- To help implement solutions to issues regarding data quality as required.
- To work with the data team to develop data reports required by customers and staff.

**General Responsibilities**
- Maintain up to date records of activities in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Work with other members of the Open Awards team to co-ordinate activity.
- Travel to and work from any site that the duties of the job may require.
- Carry out any other duties as specified, from time to time by the Management Team.
