NewarkonTrent, United Kingdom The Wildlife Trusts Full time

**Full time (35 hours per week)**

**Permanent**

**First interview: 17th/18th March**

**Second interview: 21st March**

**About Us**

The Wildlife Trusts are a federation of 46 charities, supported by a central charity, the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts. Together we have over 940,000 members, 32,500 volunteers and 3,400 staff across the UK.

From precious peatlands and wildflower meadows to Britain’s lost rainforests, Wildlife Trusts have restored and care for some of the most special places for wildlife in the UK. We’ve re-wiggled rivers, brought back beavers to the UK and helped thousands of communities take matters into their own hands to bring back nature on their doorsteps. Collectively we manage more than 2,600 nature reserves, operate 123 visitor and education centres and own 29 working farms. We undertake research, we campaign for wildlife and wild places under threat, and we help people access nature.

But we’re not standing still. The next few years will be critical in determining what kind of world we all live in. We need to urgently reverse the loss of wildlife and put nature into recovery at scale if we are to prevent climate and ecological disaster. We have an ambitious new strategy to address this, setting out our bold vision of nature in recovery with many more people taking action for wildlife.

Are you a marine planner keen to make a change to ensure natures recovery is at the heart of the growth in marine renewables and the offshore wind sector? If you have experience in UK marine planning policy, with excellent advocacy and communication skills, and would like to work for one of the UK’s best-loved nature charities, then we have an exciting opportunity for you

Working within our small but highly impactful marine team, the Marine Planning Officer will work to influence the development of marine energy policy, particularly offshore wind and the marine spatial planning process to improve the quality of decisions taken at a project and strategic level to deliver The Wildlife Trusts’ belief that development in the marine environment should be right technology in the right place and not at the expense of the natural environment.

You will work with the Marine Planning Manager to advocate for greater environmental sustainability of marine renewables and influence through all stages of the planning process, as well as take a lead on specific areas depending on your expertise.

**About you**

We are looking for an organised and resourceful individual who has proven experience of working on planning policy and strategy. You will have a commitment to wildlife conservation and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.

The Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and adults at risk. For applicable roles, applicants must be willing to undergo checks with past employers and Disclosure and Barring Service checks at the eligible level.

As a Disability Confident employer, we are committed to offering an interview to anyone with a disability that meets all the essential criteria for the post. Please let us know if you require any adjustments to make our recruitment process more accessible.

INDMED

We need nature and it needs us. We’re here to make the world wilder and make nature part of life, for everyone. We’re helping to make life better - for wildlife, for people, and for future generations.

The Wildlife Trusts are a grassroots movement of 870,000 members, 38,000 volunteers, and 2,800 staff across the UK. We are at an exciting moment in our 110-year history, with an ambitious new strategy in development setting out a vision of nature in recovery, with abundant, diverse wildlife and natural processes creating wilder landscapes where people and nature thrive.

Each Wildlife Trust is an independent charity formed by people getting together to make a positive difference to wildlife and future generations, starting where they live.

The next 10 years will be critical in determining what kind of world we will all live in. We need to reverse the loss of wildlife and put nature into recovery at scale as a matter of urgency if we are to prevent climate and ecological disaster. This will require big, bold changes in the way we think and operate, and the development of a strong, collaborative culture. It will require key stakeholders and the public to take action for nature’s recovery.

As a Disability Confident employer, we are committed to offering an interview to anyone with a disability that meets all the essential criteria for the post. Please let us know if you require any adjus
