**Summary**:
The Home Office is here to make the UK safer. Border Force is a Law Enforcement arm of the Home Office with primary responsibility for UK Border Security, including counter terrorism, immigration and customs matters.

We are responsible for handling the UK border control by implementing immigration and customs regulations and working with the wider Home Office on counter terrorism, organised crime, modern slavery and trafficking. Border Force has five operational regions in the UK: North, Central, Heathrow, South and South East & Europe. These regions have responsibility for securing the border 24 hours a day, 365 days a year at the UK’s 140 seaports, airports, 200+ general aviation ports, postal depots and international rail network. This includes the Eurostar from Brussels and Paris to St Pancras International and the Eurotunnel from Coquelles to Cheriton, where Border Force has juxtaposed controls.

**Job description**:
Border Force Central Region covers a wide geographical area including: Southend, London Gateway, Tilbury, Stansted, London City, Luton, Birmingham, East Midlands Airport, Felixstowe, Harwich and the postal hubs of Coventry International and Heathrow Worldwide Distribution Centre.

The Business Management unit sits within Strategy command and encompasses a diverse wide ranging work area to support Border Force Operations leading on amongst other areas, resourcing, training, communications, all people related activity, disability, and peer support.

This key support role will offer a unique opportunity to gain strategic oversight of regional operations and close working at times with the senior management team.
- Identifying and liaising with wider Home Office and cross government resources, stakeholders and people networks
- Organising and planning meetings, both internal and with external partners and organising room bookings, event planning
- Capturing data from a variety of sources and effective data management
- Accessing and using appropriate databases to provide reports and business intelligence

This role is based in Enterprise House Stansted and operates normal office hours. There is scope for flexibility within the team. We are currently working remotely in accordance with Covid-19 guidance, making use of available technology but are reviewing how our future working model looks. Applicants must understand that there will be a requirement to attend Enterprise House in the future for meetings and work.

**Responsibilities**:

- Managing a variety of mailboxes, responding to queries and delegating work as necessary.
- Collating and tasking information requests.
- Proactively prioritising competing tasks across multiple timescales and stakeholders, identifying and highlighting issues.
- Commissioning and collating information where appropriate from across the region.
- Liaising with commands and central functions on a variety of work streams, building and maintaining good professional working relationships.
- Problem solving and suggesting appropriate actions.
- Proficiently using IT systems to input data.
- Working to deadlines and producing minutes, reports and returns for senior managers.
- Other ad hoc administrative duties relevant to the role.

**Essential Criteria**
- Strong IT skills and working knowledge of Microsoft products (including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Skype/Teams).
- Strong customer service skills and a firm understanding of operational business context, and the pressure associated with an operational frontline business.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise at all levels, both internally and externally.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise.
- A strong work ethic, demonstrating commitment, discipline, respect and moral courage.
- Ability to analyse reports to draw out key data.
