Kennel Assistant
We are looking for a temporary kennel assistant to work for the National Dog Team at Border Force - Stansted Airport, Essex
It is essential that the successful applicant is comfortable and confident around dogs.
This role is physically demanding and requires working in hostile weather conditions.
TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED
Some main responsibilities include - But not limited:
Carrying out Care, Feed & Exercise to required national standards, acting on feedback provided by DUTL and independent inspection by Chief Instructor or representative of the National Dog Team
Conducting High Intensity Interval Training of Border Force Detector Dog in line with published guidance
Monitoring the dogs' health and fitness, identifying any issues promptly, seeking advice from DUTLs, handlers, Chief Instructors and/or veterinary surgeon as appropriate, adhering to advice and dispensing medical treatment in accordance with instructions
Ensuring the dogs are groomed regularly, bathed and dried as required in readiness for operational deployment
Updating accurately and promptly dog feed, exercise, medical and other Unit records
Accounting for and maintaining all associated equipment and record usage appropriately
Communicating clearly and professionally with colleagues, outside agencies and business partners
Demonstrating a positive and flexible approach to any tasks undertaken
A FULL MANUAL DRIVING LICENSE IS ESSENTIAL.
The successful applicant will be required to transport dogs between Border Force kennel sites across the UK.
You will be required to work weekends and public holidays.
This is a 3-6 month temporary role with the opportunity to extend.
This is a full-time role, and the working hours will be between 7:00 - 19:00, on a rota basis
You will be required to work either Saturday or Sunday every other weekend
£10.61 an hour based in Stansted
Successful applicants will be vetted to CTC level prior to commencement of the role. You must have a valid passport, and have resided in the UK for the last 5 years.
