To succeed in this role, you will need to be a self-starter who is passionate about achieving results and making a difference. As they say; 'people buy people', so your charismatic personality will be just as important as your proven sales experience, ideally gained within the hotel industry, and you need to be organised to plan and prioritise your time to achieve results. Your knowledge of the local market and ability to seek solutions for your clients allowing you to build long-term relationships will contribute to your success in this role. You will be out and about visiting clients as well as entertaining them within the hotel so should hold a clean current driving licence, and be prepared to work some evening and weekend hours on occasions.

**As Director of Sales, your key responsibilities include**:

- Drive and co-ordinate all sales activity to maximise revenue from existing accounts at hotel, national and international level
- To arrange own sales appointments and action professional follow-up accordingly
- Investigate new areas of business in terms of market development into new territories and market segments to quantifiable targets
- To regularly meet with the GM to communicate customer’s feedback, problems encountered, sales information, competitor knowledge, pricing strategies, product changes and environment influences that may affect the business, then formulate strategies to overcome any identified issues
- To attend and participate in hotel sales meetings, both national and international Millennium and Copthorne sales meetings
- To maintain team communication through regular contact and face to face team meetings
- Attend / organise / run trade show fairs and represent the hotel at industry related events as required
- To manage the M&E office team closely and ensure they maximise on all revenue opportunities

**As Director of Sales, the essential skills required include**:

- **Communicating expectations**: understand the needs of both the client and the business
- **Building relationships**: develop strong and long-term relationships with clients, industry partners, team and key internal colleagues
- **Maximising sales opportunities**: understand revenue and volume budget for key segments and shape actions/initiatives to impact positively. Maintain in-depth knowledge of competitors and pipeline accounts
- **Understanding customer behaviour**: demonstrate high level of commercial awareness
- **Delivering on promises**: be solution-orientated when planning client proposals. Ensure all deadlines are met & have a reputation of reliability with both internal and external customers
- **Developing expertise**: be knowledgeable in all market share tools i.e. Hotelligence, STR etc.
- **Thinking and planning**: have a structured approach to reviewing the business needs. Be strategic and business-focused in all actions
- **Providing information**: collation of all requested reports by the GM or RDOS
- **Structuring tasks**: ensures proactive sales actions are planned into your daily routine

**About the Hotel**

Nestled on the peaceful banks of its own ornamental lake, the Copthorne Hotel Cardiff-Caerdydd offers convenient access to a variety of local attractions. Guests can choose from Standard, Club or Suite accommodation, the majority of which offer picturesque views over the lake.

Raglan’s Restaurant offers a memorable dining experience, with glorious views over the lake and a menu that offers the very best in local produce. The bar and lounge area provide light meals throughout the day and a selection of beverages. Guests can also watch live sporting events on the big screen televisions.
