Provide genetic/genomic counselling using different communication modalities such as face to face, virtual and telephone consultations (including preparation and planning for consultation and post clinic follow-up)
- Taking a lead role in predictive, pre-natal, carrier genetic testing as well as in cascade screening
- Ordering genetic tests
- Liaising with other healthcare professionals
- Triage referrals of patients to the service within their area of expertise, using appropriate protocols
- Act as a genetics resource and participate in teachings of genetics to other healthcare professionals / students or patient / public groups
- Contribute to service development, audit and studies
- Work with mainstream colleagues
- Interest in prenatal genetics is preferable as the role will have a prenatal focus and may involve working in local Fetal Medicine Unit for part of the role.

The department provides a comprehensive genetic service to 4.1 million in the NW London, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. There are close links with the St. Mark’s Hospital Centre for Familial Intestinal Cancer. Clinics are conducted from our base at Northwick Park Hospital and at peripheral clinics within the NW Thames region.
