About Us:
We are a low volume, high mix electronics design and manufacturing company located north of Cambridge. Due to succession planning, we are recruiting a full-time, permanent Production Engineering and Quality Manager to join our team of 100 employees.
Production Engineering and Quality Manager - The Role:
The Production Engineering and Quality Manager is responsible for defining, implementing, monitoring and improving all manufacturing processes, management of the quality function and supplier quality.
Production Engineering and Quality Manager - Key Responsibilities:
- Define and improve production assembly processes ensuring they deliver best value for the company
- Ensure all production equipment is maintained and is available to the production teams
- DFM - Provide input to product design from the product feasibility stage, reviewing product designs and recommending improvements that benefit product cost and quality levels
- Evaluate and implement new processes and materials to support NPI and enhance existing methods
- Design, provision and maintain jigs and fixtures for production
- Proactively manage health & safety, promoting safe working practices to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all staff
- Ensure product quality through effective adherence to quality management systems, procedures, and processes
- Manage supplier quality - Liaise with suppliers ensuring corrective and preventive actions are closed out successfully
- Manage in-house quality - review defect data, hold product quality reviews with relevant staff and implement process improvements
- Assist with general site maintenance and coordinate external contractors
Production Engineering and Quality Manager - You:
Required experience:
- At least 10 years in an electronics production engineering background from a low volume high mix environment, preferably gained from within an OEM
- Can improve efficiency, reduce production costs and improve quality through product design change and process improvements
- Is able to design and produce small jigs for production
- Has a practical approach to problem solving, creating solutions for todays and tomorrow's problems
- Can analyse quality defect data and construct improvement programs that result in real world benefits
Desirable Experience:
- Is able to read system and circuit diagrams
- Able to generate a product test strategy and provision test fixtures
- Has experience in managing a quality management system
- Is familiar with 8D reports, fishbone diagrams and other similar problem-solving methods
- Has developed supplier improvement programmes
- Holds a NEBOSH certificate
