NHS England’s regional Medical Directorate has a key leadership role in the regional health system, with responsibility, in conjunction with other leaders from across the professional spectrum, for delivery of high - quality health care for the regional population, in line with the NHS Long Term Plan and other governmental priorities.
The prime aim is to secure ongoing improvement in value based clinical outcomes and the experience of care for the population of the region. This will require high calibre leadership and initiative to support providers and commissioners to deliver and commission complex high quality care.
As a Head of Allied Health Professions, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team in delivering an effective service s enior lead ers and staff across the Region al System to provide expert professional clinical leadership for improving value - based population and patient outcomes, addressing workforce and health inequalities, improving productivity and strengthening clinical leadership of the AHPs across London.
Applicant should demonstrate their knowledge and experience of having worked in a similar, system level AHP leadership roles in the past.
The Head of Allied Health Professions provides clinical and professional advice and leadership for the 1 5 allied health professions (art, music and drama therapists, chiropodists/podiatrists, dietitians, occupational therapists, ODPs, orthoptists, osteopaths, paramedics, physiotherapists, prosthetists and Orthotists, radiographers (diagnostic & therapeutic), speech and language therapists) and their services that are commissioned and delivered to the health and care system.
The role autonomously forges close links with the various Arm’s Length Bodies (ALBs) in England: NHS England (including WTE Head of AH P s ) and system regulators, AHP professional bodies and regulators, together with regular collaboration with the national Chief AHP Officer’s office.
The post holder will work as part of a dynamic senior multidisciplinary team delivering an effective service supporting senior leaders and staff across NHS E in the region in developing and delivering effective and coherent strategies for whole system transformation which embrace s the “triple aim”. They will have a professional background from one of the health p rofessions and have continued and unblemished registration with the Health and Care Professions Council or the General Osteopathic Council.
