**Job Summary**
The role of the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) is pivotal in ensuring that children with special educational needs receive the support and guidance they require to thrive in an educational setting. The SENCO will work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external agencies to create an inclusive environment that caters to the diverse needs of all students, particularly those with additional challenges. This position requires a strong commitment to fostering a nurturing atmosphere where every child can achieve their full potential.
**Duties**
- Develop and implement tailored educational plans for children with special educational needs.
- Provide support and guidance to teaching staff on best practices for inclusive education.
- Conduct assessments to identify the specific needs of students and monitor their progress.
- Collaborate with parents and caregivers to ensure effective communication regarding children's development.
- Facilitate training sessions for staff on topics such as behaviour management and effective teaching strategies for children with special needs.
- Engage in mentoring activities to support both students and staff in achieving educational goals.
- Coordinate with external professionals, including speech therapists and special education experts, to enhance the learning experience for students.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
**Skills**
- Strong background in childcare, particularly in toddler care and preschool settings.
- Experience working with children who have special educational needs or disabilities.
- Exceptional mentoring skills, enabling effective support for both students and colleagues.
- Ability to implement behaviour management strategies that promote positive learning environments.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, facilitating collaboration with various stakeholders.
- A passion for fostering an inclusive atmosphere that values diversity and promotes individual growth.
Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
